New cables - To judge now or after burn in period?
It’s easy…if they sound good ‘out of the box’, then let ‘em brake-in.  If they don’t, move on.
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k)
Audible Illusions.  L3A (which is what I own) or the newer L3B.  These are line stage only, that use only 2 6H23 tubes. Or, if you want phono stage included, M3A, or the newer M3B (4 6H23 tubes).ive owned my L3A now for about 5 years, and have not...
Old Amps that can still Kick Butt
Clayton M-100’s
Favorite cable brand.
High Fidelity Cable.  Each, and every time I added a HFC cable (or anything made but HFC) in to my system it just got better.
Class D for a Tube Lover
Out of curiosity, and after reading some very favorable reviews, I purchased a NewClear NC1000L.  I was interested in seeing just how Class D sounds.  Bottom line, this is an incredible amplifier,  period.  Beautiful tonality, unbelievable dynamic...
Audio Magic power cords
Hello drove,I currently own two “Audio Magic” Black Thunder power cords.  Originally, I purchased them to power two REL subwoofers, but now, I am using one on my power amp.  The Black Thunder power cable is surprisingly good.  It really doesn’t ad...
Speaker Upgrade Recommendation for Current Analog System - under $10,000 Budget
I absolutely love my Legacy Focus SE’s.  They are truly wonderful speakers in every way.
Warm, rich but detailed SS preamp (made you give up tubes)
For what it’s worth, I really love my Audible Illusions L3.  No, it’s not SS, but has only 2 tubes.  Engaging (you’ll want to listen for hours and hours), warm (but not slow), spacious (lots of air, wide, deep soundstage).  Doesn’t cost an arm and...
Should I use long interconnects, or long speaker cables?
@tvad I appreciate your suggestions.  I’ve already tried the spring route, and that was no help (however, I used the springs under my two subs, and what a nice improvement I received).  I believe that the feedback is acoustic in nature (not being ...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
My costliest mistake, not buying a copy of Donald Fagen’s, ‘Nightfly’ vinyl album (Mobile Fidelity’s, 1step Process). At the time that it was available, it cost $125. Now, it’s out of circulation. You can still get a copy, but they’re going for $4...
What isolation feet under your amp with great result?
Without a doubt, Symposium Acoustics ROLLER Block HDSE.  When I first purchased them, I expected some improvement, but when I installed them I got huge Improvements in air, soundstage (both width and depth), and clarity.  It literally was one of t...
Are the Alpha Core Goertz AG-3 Divinity pure silver cables any good?
I own the Goertz AG-2’s, and I like them very much.  Clean, fast, open, transparent, huge soundstage.  They are neutral, but not thin or harsh (as long as what’s in front of them isn’t thin or harsh).
is this the greatest live band of all time?
King Crimson
What should I do?
20 hours now on the cartridge.  This Mutech Hayabusa is already beyond my expectations.  At this point, I just can't imagine how it could get any better!  I will update again after another 10 hours of play time.
What should I do?
Latest update.   I now have 15 hours on my new Mutech Cartridge.  Two important performance increases have occurred. One, at, or about 6 hours, the cartridge's bass has matured.  When I first installed the Cartridge, the bass was extended deep, bu...
