Avalon Idea vs Ascendant II The idea are a newer speaker and really 'better' in monst of the traditoinal ways most of us assess equipment. They are more accurate, more transparent, less cabinet with a wider soundstage, more neutral and more resolution. They are fast and dyna...
Dynavector XV-1s vrs Transfiguration Proteus The Proteus is so different to the Orpheus so comparisons to the older transfig won't help that much IMO.The Proteus has a lot more resolution, precision, articulation and slam whilst still maintaining the very natural and musical house sound. As ...
Transfiguration Proteus On the original post, i have a Proteus up and running and its a lovely thing for sure. Compared to my old orpheus it adds a whole load more speed, bite, articulation, slam and dynamics. The treble seems more extended, more real with greater air an...
Gyrodec vs Well Tempered Amadeus I prefer the amadeus to the Gyro and the orbe. Its presentation to my ears is more seductive and beguiling, fabulous with jazz and classical. The michell decks do most things well but can be a little bland with the wrong arm/cart.
Turntable with stable speed. The Amadeus has better pitch stability than many other belt drives but you would do better to look at a brinkman Bardo, technics or Garrard IMO.
Well Tempered Amadeus vs TW Acustic Raven One I have heard both in different systems (andf used to own a GTA and now own a RavenAC3). Both great tables but personally I wouldnt bother fiddling about between the two. The amadeus is a lovely deck with a very fluid, relaxed sound so unless you a...
Stand out phono stages @KiddmanGood call with the Ypsilon. Had the pleasure of one here for a few days and I agree that it's an amazing stage but of course at a very high price. Like the Mastergroove and Allnic, in a different league to most mentioned on this thread. Th...
Micro Seiki, or TW AC-1 @ThuchanYou were right !Went from an AC1 to AC3 and I found the difference very large. More image focus, far greater dynamics, air, space, poise, musical relatedness/intent, and of course much better pitch stability and timing. The raven should be...
Turntable Choices Well Tempered versalex or GTAYou need £10,000 of Linn, or more, to match it.
Which is REALLY the best Conrad Johnson Preamp I ran the ACT2.2 for a couple of years. I enjoyed it immensely but it was always a little too cold/neutral for my tastes and a wee bit hot in the treble. Still a fabulous amp though and one you could live with for good if forced to. That said I ha...
Allnic Puritas vs. Koetsu Stone Body Hi Suteetat, thanks for sharing. That's a shame that you haven't been able to try Koetsu/FR on the TW. I have not heard of many owners using Koetsu with TW. let me know if you ever manage to make or source an armboard and give it a go. BTW: a frie...
Stand out phono stages Hi Raul, a provocative post that makes a lot of assumptions. Let me just say that enjoyment, involvement and putting on another record are the absolute goals for me. If the components that do this are neutral or coloured is neither here nor there....
Best MC step up transformer Allnic HA3000, check the reviews.
Allnic Puritas vs. Koetsu Stone Body @Lew, I take your comments about the etiology of sibilance and do indeed agree with them. They are also bold comments and hint at a certain set of assumptions and invite me to erect a defense concerning my own abilites to understand, setup and deb...
Stand out phono stages The two best Phono Stages I have heard (and I have heard many) are the Tom Evans MASTERGROOVE and the Allnic H3000V.The mastergroove is the most accurate, neutral, distortion free phono I have ever witnessed but I use and prefer the H3000V. |
