Upcoming Trip i'm familiar with the sony xm4, senn and focal bathys--the sony have the best anc and the bathys the best sound, although its anc isn't that far off. that said, as @fatdaddy2 suggests, even the best bt isn't going to trump good wired phones for ho...
Member Almarg passed away last night Wonderful man and a model of knowledge and civility. I still think of him when I read some of the dumb/hostile stuff on these threads.
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype @audiotroy is unequivocally correct-- there's a lot of stuff besides the (comparatively cheap) chip that affects the dac's sound quality. i have a no-name, $60 chinese dac which uses the exact same chip as some high $$$ wadia and other high end pl...
Joey Molland has passed away i read that there was a lot of static between him and the estates of the other bf members over writing credits and royalties, but he was a very good writer/musician. his sad fate, however, was to be a very good writer/musician in a band with a gr...
David Johansen has passed away i was just listening to "here comes the night", which i think was his third solo record. imo the best thing he's done--really tight, lean songs (most written with blondie chaplin, who's an underrated guitarist). "bohemian love pad" and "suspicion"...
The Audio Science Review (ASR) approach to reviewing wines. I likewise find this ASR bashing tedious. The guy seems sincere, writes pretty well and, as far as I know hasn't been accused of treason or wifebeating. Let's give it a rest.
CD player choice: Linn Ikemi, ArcamCD73, Adcom GCD- 575, or Linn Karik i've owned the adcom and the arcam--as both player and transport the arcam is much better--it does have a warm, smooth sound if that's your thing. i've only heard the ikemi briefly, but it was all the rage back in its day and, generally speaking l...
A great singer you may have never heard, or even heard of. He was pretty popular in the late 70s...even got an Oscar nom. I liked his first two records; subsequent ones veered more into AOR. I did see him live once in NYC and he was fantastic---really tight w/ old school showmanship.
Which inexpensive speaker cables... i see 20' canare 4s11 on ebay for a hundo or so--i use it and it's just fine.
looking for bookshelves - Another usual boring speaker discussion proac response come to mind--lots of low end, front ported and should work well near the wall. likewise paradigm persona.
Favorite scream in rock? Also bdp and many others
Favorite scream in rock? Slaw, I've failed to show my appreciation for your spot on impeccable ear. Likewise jafant...you guys rule
How Many Times Can You Split A Subwoofer Signal Using A "Y" Connector? as i understand it the number of times you can split a signal without degradation depends on the output/input impedances of the amp/preamp. in your case i would just use a speaker selector, which you can get very cheaply.
Dual Sub-woofers paired into two sets of speakers - connection option. your parasound is a high-current amp designed to go down to 2oHm, so unless your speakers are ridiculously demanding i wouldn't expect it would have trouble driving both sets of speakers. i also see no problem with connecting one or both subs via ...
Dual Sub-woofers paired into two sets of speakers - connection option. you haven't specified what your amp is, but i'd be very hesitant to run speakers a and b at the same time--you're effectively halving the impedance load that the amp sees, which could potentially damage it and will likely affect performance. |
