Turntable and Rack vibration control
I must say that the low torque approach doesn't cut the mustard with my ears - stylus drag is real and it really messes up image and therefore timing. There's a great youtube clip by Halcro with a JVC tt101 having three cartridges playing with abs...
Turntable and Rack vibration control
Given the significant reduction in moving parts - I guess a well executed DD would be the best at managing vibration from a theoretical point of view.

I get it that throwing mass into a plinth or stand is one way to hifi Nirvana for some. That said, I am convinced that mass alone ain't the answer, neither damping. Of course the balance is important. In pursuance of this are people designing plint...

Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
I have told them to do the works so to speak. I didn't get the TT101 to skimp. I got it because I liked the design and technology that has not been repeated since.  They have done a once over thus far and an estimate. To their credit they don't pe...

GOOD NEWS!!!Wilkinsons are able to repair my JVC tt10. Andrew informed me that someone must have either dropped it badly or put a hammer to it... He has replaced the bearing at the bottom of the spindle and will then work on all the electrolytics ...

The musical coherence of the Dnm is what sets it apart. I bought some nordost heimdall 2's. More bass, faster, more transparent yes yes yes. However a chocolate cake ain't always tastier when it is bigger, sweeter, creamier or More salty (yes cake...
Best mc retip service
LOL NandricI do think that certain re-tippers get more publicity than others. I didn't know about 'Expert' until this thread TBH. The expensive re-tipper was based in the UK - it is a sad fact at present in the UK industry is such that as soon as ...

Phono preamp question
Linn and the associated 'flat-earthers' form the view 'rubbish in = rubbish out'. That being the case improvements upstream (closer to source) ought to improve the sound. In my experience this is true - a better phono stage makes an incredible diff...
Your choice - TT, Arm, Stage, Cartridge - $5000 budget
In terms of going second hand you have a wonderful selection available. For a 'big stage' a good phono stage is essential. I had an EAR 834P which has that big stage you are looking for. I own the original Whest phono stage on which I did a review...
