Makin’ Magic is a stellar LP. Still gets a regular spinning after all these years.
Looking At CD Players
I own an Oppo 105, 205 and a Bryston CDP-3. I do like the versatility of the Oppo players. I find them to be a tad on the accurate or bright side which might be to your liking. I much prefer the Bryston for red book playback.
So many great golden era DD tables out there, what do you recommend for $1000?
No idea what price you can find one for but another vote for the the Denon line up. Anything from a DP-59 up to the DP-80. I have a 35+ plus year old Denon DP-72L that still works flawlessly.
Most impressive small footprint speaker
Epos M16i. Small footprint? Check. Dimensions: 35.4" (885mm) H by 7" (175mm) W by 8.4" (210mm) D (without grille). Full Range? Pretty close. 2 1/2 way down to 20 KHz. Cost no object? Absolutely not! I’m fortunate to have the space for a number of ...

Elliott Sharp w/ Mary Halvorson and Marc Ribot - ERR Guitar.
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
@millercarbon. You’re a tweaker. That’s so not me. Not my skill set. I’m more a set it and forget guy. But gonna look into your anti-static advice. Static electricity is brutal where I live.
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
That’s great that it was tubes for both of you. I’m still plotting/planning my way there. Hopefully another aha moment to look forward to 😎

Enjoy your Harbeth’s. I have a pair of SHL5+ in backup to my Monti’s. I get to switch back and forth between a boxed and unboxed sound. They complement each other very well.
Purchase advice: Old turntable vs. new....
I’m a big fan of vintage DD turntables. Original owner of a 30+ year old Denon DP72 that is still going strong. Got a DP62 in backup and just got a great deal on a Kenwood KD500 in good working order. You said it “Gigantic and Tremendous”
What is the first album you purchased, and do you still have it?
Bob Dylan - Desire. Still have it and every other album I’ve acquired over the years.
Denon Power amplifier or Yamaha amplifier help please
Speaking only from a reliability standpoint, my Denon POA2200 (purchased in 1985) is still going strong. It doesn’t get nearly the playing time that it used to but it still fires up and rocks out when I decide to set up some of my vintage gear.
Underrated album: Sonics AND Music
Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (CD) if you want to see how your systems highs hold up. Roy can sure hold a note. ‘She’s A Mystery To Me’ is where tweeters find out if they measure up.
