To extend Ethernet to remote location, are Powerline extenders or Mesh systems better? +1 mesh. A high performance wifi 6 system on 2.4/5G band will work as good as wired if setup properly. Chose 2.4 if in a low density area like a house or 5 in a higher density area. Ethernet over power lines is fine too but has more ways to ...
Ethernet Clocking Thanks @cindyment the kind words. I would not dispute your observations about USB ;-). You are probably right. i learned one thing out of that thread, which is a twist on what I knew already: one can only share their experiences and knowledge w...
Power conditioner some say yes and some say no. I have no idea how much the PS Audio power plants make a system sound better in house XYZ. But one thing is: I know exactly what hey do. And I can totally see how it will isolate a system from dubious power. It’s AC-DC-AC conversion and that...
Mola Mola Kula, anyone? If I ever see a Tambaqui on the used market I’ll buy it before any other buyer can say “honey?”
Ethernet Clocking @lalitk I guess I should have said ‘almost’. I just bought a $400 usb cable. Maybe I’ll make my way to Ethernet some day.
Monitor Audio Gold 300 (5G) vs Monitor Audio Platinum 200 II I have PL200ii, have many data points but not versus gold 300. This is interesting, the platinum already have smallish mid driver but those gold take it to a new level. 2.5 is bizarrely small. I understand that the reason is that the MPD tw...

Ethernet Clocking @laltik I do respect your experience but his journey is not for me :-) maybe if one day I can grasp one reason why those things work, I will.
Ethernet Clocking @antigrunge2 im not a network engineer. You don’t seem to understand the difference. I design and build networking equipment. The gear I work on provides networking to some of the largest retailers, colleges, etc in the US and worldwide. My...
Ethernet Clocking @antigrunge2 Can't argue with DCS products. John is a sales guy, keep that in mind. This quote is out of context. An external clock is useful 'maybe' to synchronize multiple boxes which i am not aware of any needs for doing so in HiFi. The...
Ethernet Clocking @richtruss I really wish I could, UK is a long way away from California, I'd actually make a bit detour to listen to that. But i am taking your word for it. I will continue to assume that it's possible and be on the look out for some explanatio...
Ethernet Clocking Except @lmcmalo cant help but chip in. Let’s pass the point where some vendor has a RE-clocking product for a protocol without a clock :-0 Ethernet phy layer is an asynchronous. Very roughly it works like this. Very roughly, it’s complicated ...

Ethernet Clocking I’m new here. 40 years audiophile. 30 years designing software and hardware for switches, routers, high performance wifi access points. Open minded guy, I think. I have iso pucks everywhere, nice cables, power regeneration and what have you…. C...
What do you think is the best integrated amplifier under 1000 I have the sprout on my office system with Kef LS50. It’s all right, works for me because of small size and I use the DAC. I feel there should be something better under 1K. |
