Affordable Newer Speakers
Dynamics are/is the most important criteria. The price range is $500.00 or less. I realize speakers should not be bought solely on the basis of others opinions, but a guide to a path can be suggested (hopefully), especially by the many knowledgeab...
Do Active Speakers Belong In A High End System?
The Paradigm Active Studio 20 received accolades in the late 1990's. I had the "regular" Studio 20 and can attest to their fine acoustic qualities. I don't know if speakers designed for home use are being manufactured at present and have no idea a...
NAD 2140 or Nakamichi 420, or else?
Please type in complete sentences. "Paragraphs breaks, PLEASE" is a phrase, not a sentence. Doing so makes it impossible to decipher the intent of the post.
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
Inching toward 500 responses. How many new amps have been promised?
Parasound, McCormick, Odyssey - best under $1000
7 years and 8 days between posts on this one. Is that a record?
Preamp for headphone use
If you can locate one, a Melos Sha-1 or Sha-Gold might suffice. I had a Sha-Gold and it's the best preamp/headphone amp I have heard.

Chemistry question on aluminum
Are there any Phd's in chemistry out there who can answer this without equivocation? I doubt any respondents thus far have an education degree of any type in chemistry.
Cables more hype than value?
Re: Food AnalogiesDo $5,000.00 cables taste better than $30.00 cables?
Cables more hype than value?

Need a monitor while floorstanders in storage
I don't think you can go wrong with Paradigm Studio 20's. I can only speak as to the original version. They were the best "bookshelf"/"monitor" speakers I have heard.
Designer Hall of Fame
Jim StricklandBrian CheneyI've always wanted to hear VMPS speakers. They're a little too expensive for me, though. Is VMPS an acronym and if so, what does it stand for?
Recent equipment you hated, thought overpriced
My $10.00 "atomic" alarm clock is accurate to 1/10th of a second a year. Why would anyone pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for a timpiece that is accurate to 2-3 minutes a month? There's an audio analogy in there somewhere.Back to the topic at...
