Anything beat dh labs t-14 for the money......
It is a great value in my opinion.Buy some used from here or Ebay.Unless you need a lot of wire, you won't need to spend $200 bucks. It will sound different than your copper wire because of the silver coating, but is a very neutral wire overall.The...
DH Labs IC's - BL-1 vs. Air Matrix vs. Revelation
I agree that I am not looking for a solution, or for some type of tone change. Really pretty happy, but you know how one wants to experiment with this crazy hobby.I guess I would only really want to spend a modest amount for an IC up the DH line s...
DH Labs IC's - BL-1 vs. Air Matrix vs. Revelation
John- Thanks for the informative response.I was also wondering about the Revelation as it is pure silver versus the copper with silver coating of the BL-1 and Air Matrix I believe. My system right now is about right in terms of balance between bri...
Upgrade Path - Integrated or Power Amp????
71508 -I actually think that you will not recognize the JM Labs after you upgrade the preamp/power.My speakers and overall sound went from very good, to great with the change.Have fun!
Upgrade Path - Integrated or Power Amp????
715018-This is an incredibly interesting and strange hobby.I guess each person needs to make a decison about what level of craziness they are happy with. I am very happy right now and really could only see a source upgrade at sometime in the futur...
Upgrade Path - Integrated or Power Amp????
Just went through the exact decision making process in the last few months.I really wanted to improve my 2 channel sound and was quite satisfied with my HT performance of my Denon 5.1 receiver.I did add a better power amp for the fronts only (Para...
Revel M20 vs New ACI Saphire 3 ?
The new ACI Sapphires are actually the 25th Anniversary Edition version.ACI has a 30 day return policy if you don't like them.Great company to deal with.If you try them, you will not likely return them.Extraordinary speakers- soundstage is huge, d...
Pioneer Elite DV-C36 as a transport, or get CDP?
Phild-Thanks. I have seen his name in many threads andwill explore that further. It would be good to get a really informed opinion about this particular Pioneer as a transport and if it is a problem. I have no idea how one tells whether it is avera...
Pioneer Elite DV-C36 as a transport, or get CDP?
Phild - Thanks for the insight. The Pioneer does something to separate the two functions by switching to a CD Mode when one wants to play a CD versus a DVD. I have no idea whether they separate some electronics. I don't know what/if it replaced a ...
A few questions about DAC basics
Small update. Ran the Pioneer through the EXT INs to bypass the Denon. Sub was not hooked up.Did A/B for several minutes on a CD that I know well (Foreplay-Heartfelt).Mrowlands - You were right, it sounded better. The bass was definitely extended ...
A few questions about DAC basics
Talked to Denon and a Tech named Tony who was very helpful. This unit does have analog bypass through the EXT IN inputs. He confirmed that anything through the regular inputs would go through the Denon circuitry. His solutions to the subwoofer were:1...
A few questions about DAC basics
Ok. I think the first step is to talk to Denon about the following two basic questions and hope I get a tech that knows what he/she is doing:1) What exactly happens to a signal via regular analog inputs into the Denon CD or DVD analog inputs for e...
A few questions about DAC basics
You guys have been great. Let me try and digest this a bit and I will post later today. Thanks!
A few questions about DAC basics
Mrowland - Hmmmm..... You are right, if I use a DAC (or even just the Pioneer DVD/CD analogs) into the EXT IN FL and FR inputs I am missing a signal to the sub. I wonder if an RCA Y splitter was used to the SUB IN from one of the FR or FL channels...
A few questions about DAC basics
Thanks guys. I am learning a lot.I may give Denon a call to confirm the info in the manual.Mrowlands- I left out what it said about the sub jack in the EXT IN group of RCA in jacks. It has a SUB IN and this signal is routed to the regular RCA pre ...
