I'm frustrated with people who don't ...
Just face it. This is an insane hobby where we are never satisfied. We are crazy to pay what we do for this stuff. Thousands for recorded sound coming out of a Marshall or Fender amp with $10 stings on the giutars. The sudios use eq's galore but w...
McIntosh MVP851 or Denon 5900
Sell it and get the Mac! Tried to warn you.
Anyone compared McIntosh C42 with C46?
Arthur I owned the C42 and loved it. I sold it because I had to move and had too many systems. I still have the C2200 which I love. I really liked the C42 and it was a bit more versatile than the 2200. A friend recently bought the 46 and loves it....

Seeking $15,000.00 speaker to replace Quad 988's
No other choice up from Quads but Soundlabs.
Which DAC processes CD audio - receiver or DVD?
You need to keep both connections hooked up. That way the denon DAC will handle the music and the HK will give you the full effects of DVD if you have the full speaker setup for HT.
Help who the best?
Make sure you put them on a skid/pallet as mentioned above.
McIntosh MVP851 or Denon 5900
If you are a Mcintosh man the 851 is a great all around CD and DVD player but pricey for a DVD player. It has a great picture and plays tough DVd rentals better than my Panasonic 2000 or Sony 7700. Denon makes very good units for DVD and if you ar...
What tubes are used in the Kora Hermes DAC?
I owned one but I do not remember the type of tube but I remember when I replaced the Phillips with Telefunken Falcons it really came alive.
McIntosh MC2102 tube or MC402 solid state amp.
The 2102 will not be enough for the Apogees. The 402 will but the 602 would be even better.
Phono stage and preamplifier opinions....
Get an Adcom GTP 400 preamp with mm phono stage - 125-150 used and you can use its excellent tuner section as a bonus - run it through its tape output. If you need MC later you can buy the Ortofon moving coil T-5 step up transformers for very cheap.
