HAVE YOU ARRIVED AT YOUR FINAL SYSTEM AND WHAT’S IN IT? WHAT ARTIST IS YOUR GO TO?
I am done for now.  I doubt I will change anything until forced to do so by technology.  My system is in my profile. The speakers are from my previous CD-based system, but the electronics are fairly recent, and the speakers really sing now that ea...
Whats playing on your system today?
Maynard Ferguson MF Horn 4&5 Live at Jimmy's.  Especially the last five charts, which, with the exception of "The Fox Hunt" were not my favorites in younger years.  Bruce Johnstone's gut bucket blues on "Got the Spirit," and the ensemble work ...
What was your first record?
Probabably Chicago’s Greatest Hits (paint).  Unless you count Jungle Book and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtracks.
As A Youngster, What Unit Puqued Your Interest In All This?
It was My buddy's system: Hitachi receiver Unknown turntable Pioneer Cassette Deck with fluoroscan meters Realistic Mach One speakers ...followed within a few years (early '80s) with my own: Luxman L450 Integrated Luxman Graphic EQ Nakamic...
Speaker that are 'KEEPERS" for the long haul!!!
My Linn AV 5140s are on their second system (tri-amped now), and I have no intention of changing them.  I got them in the late 1990s as replacements for the Realistic Mach Ones I purchased in high school in the late 1970s.  They were installed int...
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?
This prompted me to finally post mine.  No eye candy here, but endless enjoyment for me. If I had twice the income and twice the time, things might (?) be different.  I was greatly helped with both this system and my previous one by Joe (dad) and ...
"Can You Lift Yours?"
19 lbs; 8x 100W into 4 Ohms.  No problem even with my bad back!  But I cannot beat Mahgister! And like him, I will always have some love for the heavyweights.
Do Your Speakers have LEVEL CONTROLS or EQUALIZERS? (Vintage or Modern) ???
Mine do not. Linn AV 5140. Each driver driven by separate 100W amplifier from within Akurate Exaktbox-i. Lovely speakers from previous system now serving with updated amp and streamer.  No speaker-based level control.
List some of your favorite live Jazz recordings
Something a little difficult to find, but worth it if you can is "Long Yellow Road" by the Toshiko Akiyoshi/Lew Tabackin Big Band.
How does this forum feel about original house music and live DJing?
This is not at all to my taste.  Never cared for techno, dance, rap, urban, any of that.  I prefer horns, strings, human voice, drums you actually hit, stuff like that.  Mostly things that would still work live with no electricity.  That said, I l...
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus
Triple bill in 1979 or so:  Pat Travers / Scorpions / Sammy Hagar; I was in first few rows and the cabinets were all sitting on the stage (not flown from ceiling)--ouch!  Plus Rush Hemispheres around that time as well (fantastic concert).  I do ha...
WHEN DID YOU FINALLY STOP...
I stopped (not sure it is final, but I am OK if it is) with my last big purchase/upgrade to join the 21st century and enter the world of high-fidelity streaming.  Previous system was CD only, the amp had crapped out, and the midrange driver in one...

Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great?
My second system is in my woodshop.  A very simple combination: Klipsch RP600M Bookshelf Speakers NAD C316 BEE Integrated BlueSound Node 2i The Klipsch are efficient (96 dB) and make plenty of sound (including bass) with the 40W NAD.  Total...
