Do I need a power conditioner? I guess I was wondering of the dedicated circuit would obviate the need for a conditioner. I'm convinced Shunyata is superior to most because it's not supposed to restrict current or dynamics. But the 1st gen Hydra I just git does seem to take awa...
Has anyone compared K150 tubes and the stock EL34s in Primaluna integrated/amplifiers? I was running the EL34 to Revel Performa3 F206s. Maybe not as power hungry as the Performa 2 series, but still not quite lighting them up.So I got the KT150 and Boom! Did the trick. I love em. Might add that the Mullard CV4003 for the 12AU7 is f...
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable Have a Phoenix Engineering Roadrunner Tachometer attached. Plus a Phoenix Eagle PSU. With the stock PSU my PolyTable runs dead on. But speed will vary with wall current variability, same as with any AC synchronous motor. Of course, even with the q...
Phoenix Engineering Falcon and Eagle My understanding is that Phoenix Engineering was not unsuccessful. Just that it was too time consuming, so Mr. Carlin decided to return to retirement.I have an Eagle and a Roadrunner. Outstanding products in my opinion.Recent reviews in TAS, Audio...
Hana el or sl cartridge 0.5 mv 60 dB is plenty. And works fine at 100 ohm. (Used mine initially with Vincent PHO 8 at those settings) Now using with Sutherland 20/20 at 60 dB. Tried at 200 ohm and then 475 ohm. I prefer the 475 setting because the midrange sounds a little more ...
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable Re: VPI customer service, I have no personal experience.Just a recent Audiogon thread where it was being debated.Believe it was asserted that problems must go through the dealer.Do have experience with PolyTable however. George is happy to take yo...

$2000 turntable system Guess it's true.Kinda strange given just reviewed in TAS in August.Got one anyway.Seems to have unique capabilities.Just hope it holds up.
$2000 turntable system Bummer. What other product does on the fly automatic speed adjustment?Best I can tell just dropping the needle slows the rotation by 0.1 RPM.Seems like continuous automatic adjustment would be a plus. Thanks for tip. Might just get one anyway.
$2000 turntable system Down the rabbit hole...Didn't want to get carried away on first foray into vinyl, given uncertainty about rate of use. Turns out I prefer analog to digital source, so have dropped a few hunderd on LPs. (Don't want to add it up.) But seems I need a...
Pass Labs INT 60 VS. Primaluna Dialogue Premium HP VS. Arcam A49 I have PL Dialogue HP Int and recently picked up Pass INT150 also. Both sound wonderful. Am using the KT150 tubes because they power the Revel F206s better. With Mullard CV4003s also. Forced to choose, I suppose I prefer the musicality of the Prim... |
