Start over--HiFi rig ---clean slate
The point to buying integrated products is that there's less mixing and matching to do. I think we're all in the habit of tinkering with the stuff, but it's not necessary for good sound if that's what you're after.I was also concerned that there w...

"Finding good performing products is not so hard. Getting them all to work together optimally is." This is true, and the reason having fewer variables makes it easier. Instead of having to match interconnects, DACs, preamps, amps, speakers, speake...
Start over--HiFi rig ---clean slate
By the way, my new system confirms once again (to me) that having stellar electronics matters more than having stellar speakers. As long as the speakers are good enough to be neutral and transparent, your big gains in sound quality come more throu...
Good inexpensive temporary speakers
I'm impressed so far with the Tyler Linnbrooks. Big and deep for monitors but close your eyes and they sound like floor standers. Rich and deep yet precise and nuanced, timbre is spot on, good dynamics, imaging very good, coherence yes, top end ve...
Start over--HiFi rig ---clean slate
I started over several months ago after my system (all Cary Audio even speakers) were fried in a power surge. I opted for simplicity since I didn't have time to do lots of attempted system matching etc. Purchased the Wadia Intuition all in one 180...

Anyone hear the Tyler Acoustics Linbrook monitors? Hopefully they scale well with good electronics. I'm using the Wadia Intuition 01 200w integrated wDAC.

First I decide to get Nola Boxers and put an order in. But things were delayed at Nola - and having no speakers in the house at all at the moment, decided to cancel the order and get something immediately.I ended up purchasing some Tyler Acoustics...
Capitol Audio Fest Speakers?
I was surprised how great the Zu setup sounded. "Take a walk onN the wild side" sounded phenomenal. The Zu founder was extremely likable and very smart and engaging. Maybe the Tidals sounded hifi but one of the best examples I've heard in a long t...
Gone are the days of the great audition.
I don't think audio shows are the answer. Even tho I just got back from Capitol Audio Fest and did hear some interesting stuff it's of limited value overall. 1) much of the equipment is flagship mega bucks 2) most of its set up in spaces that are ...
Your favorite musical non fatiguing speakers?
I know this is off topic, but there's a Nuforce Nuprime hitting the market which is similar in functionality - and early reports say it sounds great. Instead of $7500 like the Wadia it's coming in at $2300. I doubt the sound is reference quality l...
Your favorite musical non fatiguing speakers?
KeithTexas - That's a good analysis of my situation. Also the fact that we're living temporarily in a town home instead of the large SF homes we've always had has a lot to do with it.But more than anything the prospect of having to start from scra...

Actually I'm using the Wadia DAC 200W Int amp intuition. I'm still thinking Nola Boxter w stands for around $1500 new. Use for a year and sell on Agon for a $300 loss. Basically renting speakers for $25 a month. Since the Wadia is on the warmer si...
Best natural, musical DAC under $3K?
I ended up purchasing the Wadia Intuition 01. Fully integrated unit with DAC, preamp, and 200 watt amp. Originally $7500 but I paid much less. Was either going to get active speakers and a DAC or all in one electronics plus passives. The deal on t...
Can we talk?
Psag - it seems like you might be in the "misery loves company" mode. Go ahead, get the ball rolling..

I had the impression the MG 12 was basically the MMG plus their bass module. A Mag dealer told me the MG 12 usually still needs a subwoofer, so it's a better deal to get the MMG with a REL sub and have more versatility and bass response. Not true?
