Totem Forest or Acoustic Zen Adagio
ForestStay with the 6900 and save money for refinements: room acoustics, interconnects, power cords, power conditioner, or dedicated AC line.

Jdfelice I don't think you have a bad choice either way.Don't forget your stands will cost you $200 to $500. My two cents...hold out longer for a used pair Usher BE-718.Enjoy the process and have some fun.Pierre
Advice needed building a system over time???
Forget the components for 5 minutes and evaluate your listening room. Then consider:Two or four dedicated 20 amp circuits using either (PS Auido Power Ports, Shunyata SR-Z1 or Oyaide R1s) AC outletsDouble check grounding and line noise from the ma...

Great. Which power conditioner?
Noob jumper questions...
Rkny,1.Yes. The speakers performance will likely diminish (they will not sound great.)2.Yes. Just make sure you get all the copper threads into the hole. You can support the main cable with the use of black plastic ties used by A/V installers. My V...
Tube Pre-amp BAT, ARC, EAR, Sonic Frontiers
Snakonmars,Don't forget you can always tweak the sound by using NOS tubes. Then you can look at Interconnects and Power Cords for the preamp to help refine the sound. But your tubes will have the most impact in sound refinement.
Treble of Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand?
I'm agreement with Dave.My beloved Haydns (HT) are paired with Musical Fidelity A308 power amp (250 watts dual mono.) It's a good match for the Haydns. Lots of clean current and dynamics. I get good midbass and I have no complaints about the trebl...

Nice system. You've put a lot of thought into selecting good components that provide synergy. There is tough competition in your price range for a well-designed preamp. I think it will come down to the preamps strengths and what suits your listeni...

Michael try a power conditioner or new AC power cord if your getting interface. Then look into DAC (BenchMark or Bel Canto) if the hard drive has USB output. The DAC will improve Flac sound and mps (depending on the source) and the filter will cle...
Tube amps have a signature sound
Excellent point Rodman9999. And I do know the difference between Zildjian and Sabians or a Paste. Or when the drum stick strikes the skin of the snare drum head in the middle or partial on the rim simultaneously.
Vienna baby grand
I agree with Dcstep. Consider stepping up to a larger amp that fits your listening needs...whatever that is. My Haydn Grand (used in HT) is powered by Musical Fidelity A308CR dual mono power amplifier...it is a killer. It's rated at 250 watts per ...
