Interconect recommendation I run AudioTruth Opal and think it is a great interconnect for the money. I would suggest you try them. If they don't work out, you can always sell them back for your money. They still sell really well....Good luck...LR
Best speakers for around 1000 Jwilt, Some good suggestions above, but I want to add used Hales Rev2 which you can find for a good price. These aren't too big, real wood and sound great. Discontinued unfortunately. Good luck......LR
MC-1 or Ref 30 Mborner, I have the B&K with Bryston Amps and Hales Design Speakers (similar set up to yours) and it sounds awesome. I haven't had the MC-1 in my system, but did look at it before settling on the B&K. My ultimate decision came to: B&K ...
Bryston 4B-ST vrs Adcom 565 monos Let me start by saying I really like Adcom and the products they make; especially considering the price. I currently run to adcom amps in my home. I have heard the 565s, but never in my setup. I have run 2 555 mono before; very powerful. I current...
Help with Hales Rev3 The speaker plays, but is heating up the channel it is on. This occurs till the amp (Bryston 4BST) shuts off. After it happened once, I carefully monitored the amp. That channel showing the clipping light; I thought the amp was bad. I took it off ...
Building a Brand New HT... Need advice I own a B&K Pre/Pro and it doesn't disappoint. I have demo many different units and for the $$$, B&K has worked some magic (IMHO). To me the Ref 30 is a no brainer. The amps are also well made. I have listened and liked the them as well. I...
Upgrade advise: ATI, Bryston, Aragon, Leehuff, I understand your position completely. I was there a few months ago. I had a AVR 3300 and went to a Adcom 555. I have now gone to a Bryston 4B-ST. I considered ATI as well as many others. I went to the Bryston because of performance, pric...
AV receivers to stay away from?? Pisani, all 4 brands you mention have good units that can be had used in your price range. I favor the Denon myself. I owned a Denon 3300 for about a year(went to separates). It was a great unit. I saw one today for $400 at AudioReview.com market ...
Pre/Pro for $2K Herb14, I run an B&K and it doesn't disappoint. It was a HUGE step over my Denon 3300. I use my system 50/50 music/movie and would buy B&K Pre/Pro again. Music sounds awesome. I have heard Krell, Lexicon, Proceed, Acurus, Meridian, Rotel a...
Sub for monster BASS!!!!!! Shab, Check out Velodyne HGS-18(or HGS-15). I have the HGS-15. It is incredible. It took alot of adjusting(downward), but also sound great on music. It has the ability to hit really hard on dance music is that is what you want. A friend of mine ha...
Newbie to HT - Optical vs Digital Coax Agree with everyone. Won't make much difference, but coax is better. If it won't cost much get a coax out machine and spend $45 on a Canare Digiflex II cable(this site). If you're already set up then I probably wouldn't worry. Oh, by the way I hav...
B&K Reference 10/20 Upgrades Shaqspack, I emailed B&K for a instruction manuel on a Remote for my unit. After 2 emails and no response, I called B&K. I told them I needed the manuel and admitted I bought the piece used. Didn't matter to them. I had the manuel emailed ...
HELP: Yamaha RX-V596 or Denon AVR-1801?? Kim307, Both are good recievers. Before I went to separates, I owned the Denon 3300 and it was a great receiver. I sold it to a friend who loves it also. I bought the Denon over Yamaha simply because I like the sound and looks. Maybe the next guy ...
Wrong direction? Wrong direction?? Enuff said that reviewers are affected by many things. Basically these groups of experienced reviewers can give a starting point to audition new equipment. More importantly these reviews and rating entertain us. Sure we complain ...
CAL Audio or other CD/DVD players Scott99, I would audition the new Sony S9000ES. It is a progressive scan DVD and plays SACD(as well at all CD formats). Looks pretty cool too. The retail is $1500, but generally you can find Sony for a discount price. I haven't auditioned unit yet... |
