Krell kps 25 sc Probably laser, or/and servo control board problem, time for a specialist, my guy is in Sweden ! There is a good guy in Holland too.If you want to try yourself, next step would be replacing the laser head, but it is really easy to mess up a new la...
TONEARM DAMPING : DAMPED OR NOT ? ? USELESS ? ? WELCOMED ? ? My Maplenoll Ariadne Signature uses a silicone trough in front of the cartridge on the LT air arm, this combination has a very special bass quality but makes record thickness important. Different record thickness not only changes the VTA but also ...
Warm up time for record playing My TT sounds best when it’s been running for about an hour and air compressor and motor has stabilized temperature and pressure wise, that’s when speed is very steady too. My SS phono needs about 30 min, the tube pre needs 45 min to sound it’s bes...
What brands are used by Bill Gates? Supposedly MBL X-treme !
Krell kps 25 sc Click on my user name, and send me a private message. On the Krell : Go into the menu,by pressing “Menu” turn the volume dial until it says “Cover” then press menu again, and turn the volume dial again until it says “Off” ( it gives you the other...
Krell kps 25 sc Normally the disc spins if the clamp is in place, even if the laser is not working properly it will try to read TOC. What happens if you try starting it with no clamp ? Does it say “no clamp” in the display ? There is a sensor connected to the lid...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive I think the last Maplenoll’s where made early 90’s, but Lloyd Walker basically copied the Ariadne when he made his original TT. The RoadRunner is a measuring system that can be used independently or together with the Condor, Eagle or Falcon. You c...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive The CS Port looks like a much better built Maplenoll. Heavy plinth, air bearing, belt drive and integrated air LT arm. Most Maplenoll’s where badly finished, and the pumps where nightmares. High pressure pumps where made out of oil lubricated refr...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive @mikelavigne Have you done the spin test with any of your current TT’s Mike ?I disconnected the belt from my Maplenoll yesterday, and gave the 100 lb platter a spin. It took 45 min before it was stopped completely, i was expecting 10 min or someth...
What's the best and/or favorite piece of equipment you've owned? And do you still own it? The Maplenoll Ariadne Signature TT i still own modded with extra arm and 100lb platter and custom motor. Regretfully it makes my large digital music collection sound uninspiring and has therefore decimated my choices about 80%.
Krell kps 25 sc What part is working ? It has 3 separate parts, drive, d/a converter and class a preamp. The dac is probably not working and if it is the 20 bit version will likely not work again, those dacs are almost impossible to locate. In the preamp section,...
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference? AS 2000. My favorite TT, heavy platter, air bearing, 4 arm capability with a super smooth powerful motor. Stability, detailed deep bass and drive like a idler.
A question on some older CD players and the Ultra Analog DAC used in them Be very, very careful it can become a pretty paperweight very fast !My brothers 20 bit version can only be used as a preamp, or drive. My 24 bit version has had 3 out of 4 dac chips changed already, and they are really hard to get now.
A question on some older CD players and the Ultra Analog DAC used in them kr4Yes sometimes you can get lucky.
A question on some older CD players and the Ultra Analog DAC used in them Those Ultra Analog dacs where also used in first generation Krell KPS 25 cd players, and almost all went bad. Later Krell started using BurrBrown 1704 24 bit dacs, that also gets killed by the excessive heat inside these machines none of those da... |
