Where did you buy your first audio gear?
I had my first "OMG" experience visiting The Wiz in NYC when I head Mission Speakers. Bought them and then found out the tower speakers I bought had matching center channel, surrounds and sub. I didn’t even know you could have a home theater and i...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
@waytoomuchstuff , I would add a third most important number, 3) Can I return my purchase after 30 days , no questions asked.
Streamed music sounds awful in my system and I don't know why ....
If you are going with a dedicated streamer get one with room correction software built in like the NAD C658 (dirac) or the Paradigm PW Link (ARC). You can do things with room correction that you can not do with a preamp or a DAC. It will not do mi...

@crustycoot , yes, Carver amps are rightly in the audio "Valhalla" of the 10 Most Significant Amps of All Time according to TAS. I am happy to say, deservedly so:
Downloads Versus Streaming
@goofyfoot , I think you can get a very good streamer for less than $2K. Some vendors sell streamers that you can upgrade with cards you can swap out like PC board if you are worried about future proofing: https://nadelectronics.com/product/c-658...
What is Your Opinion of Atmos Music?
@fuzztone you are correct, the majority of movies and shows streaming today are mixed in 5.1. The majority of immersive/surround MUSIC streaming however is on apple music and tidal and mixed in atmos.
Upsampling, Can there be too much?
My experience is it depends on the track, and yes, there can be too much of a good thing.
Is there such a thing as a FOREVER DAC/streamer?
@ghdprentice , you find you groove, you know it could be "better" but there is always a risk it could be less enjoyable too. I found that once I got my room just right and upgraded my room correction software, my system was "good enough". Thanks t...
What is Your Opinion of Atmos Music?
@cd318, 5.1 surround sound has an advantage of adding the center channel. Stereo was originally 3 channel and as you know two channel depends on a phantom center. Having a center channel in place makes the system a bit less dependent on a phantom ...

If anyone has a contact with a manufacturer feel free to share this thread, maybe they can post?
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
@lalitk +1 on gathering info from dealers. Maybe someone here will start a a new site, "Audio Measurement Review" so we can make it more convenient. Too much banning at ASR to make that site very useful for your other suggestion.
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
@fleschler , generally a dealer will be more than happy to provide and compare measurements if you ask and help you make a decision in the context of what you are trying to achieve, the size of your budget, your room, etc, both online dealers and ...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
You know the one "measurement" that consumers check frequently is online reviews. If a product is poorly engineered it gets one and two star reviews because it doesn’t perform, that is a metric that vendors pay attention to as well. The cable nazi...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
Could it be because nobody uses a component in isolation but in a "system" with a group of components making the measurements of the system, taken in context of the room they are used more important?
Blu-Spec vs. SACD, ?
They are both very good but a good blue ray player is less money than a good SACD player and it can also play movies. I have a Sony Universal player that can play both. I think the preference between the two depends on the mix rather than the form...
