SOS: Andy Bowman - Vintage Tube Services
I'm always looking for tubes so I guess I have to buy some from Andy next time. Can't have too many honest and competent tube vendors.
Total cost of ownership - how to reduce it
04-08-15: RhljazzObviously you don't own a Range Rover, Mercedes, or BMW. Buy one of those and your audio repairs will fade into the background. One of those fine vehicles will illustrate the frequency, severity, and cost of ownership. Not my Merce...

04-07-15: Wolf_garciaI'll reiterate for the record...a price is "stupidly high" if the item's performance or parts value or manufacturing cost isn't close to 5 or 10 times more "actually" valuable than something well made but less expensive. Plent...
Tube for aesthetix pandora / romulus
I honestly wasn't trying to slight you KNG. Just trying to give OP another side of the story since he has no idea what he's doing. Has he been back to post yet? I'd love to hear his thoughts on this and which tubes he decides on using and why. Alw...

04-04-15: Wolf_garciaIncidentally, the (to me anyway) stupid high prices of some gear is not so you can "get one whenever you want," (a patently lame reason, but sort of funny) but simply to supply company owners/shareholders with as much profit a...

Another UPS Horror Story
When I sold my TRL Samsons, I use YRC Freight. Both amps ship in one wooden crate. I arranged pickup from my home and the price was very reasonable.I got quotes from Pilot, FedEx Freight, Craters & Freighters ... and YRC had the best package d...
2 runs of wires or 1 run w/ jumpers
Definitely 2 runs. Complex passages are no longer compressed and lyrics are easier to decipher. The improvements are immediately obvious and not a struggle to hear the differences. 2 runs are more EXPENSIVE but excellent ROI in my system.
