So damn hard deciding which tube preamp to buy!
Well jumia, life is full of choices and you must take a chance and take that leap of faith.
VAC preamps - too expensive?
@jumia, VAC is definitely not for you. The remote doesn’t have an on/off button, doesn’t have a mute on/off button, doesn’t have an input change button or an HT bypass button. That’s up to 4 times you have to get up to change things for HT. Good t...
Is using an Apple Computer a weak link...?
@jomonhifi,Please stop using your MacPro. I had a Mac Mini and even waited 2 years for my Paul Hynes linear power supply to be built. I converted my Mac to DC only, and it still was far inferior to a dedicated streamer. I now have an Auralic Aries...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
I run all digital for now, and the VAC does an incredible job with it. Good decisions @jumia.
VAC preamps - too expensive?
Nope no problem at all. The expense will be there for long cable runs whether they’re XLR or speaker.Using a Cinema / HT bypass button or knob allows you to use your Marantz AVR’s volume control for all channels and not try to level match the volu...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
No @jumia you cannot change inputs on the VAC remote. It has 3 buttons (mute, volume up/down) which does not have an input button. Also, the HT bypass is not changed by the input selector. There is a “Cinema” knob on the upper right corner of the ...
VAC preamps - too expensive?
I listened to a VAC preamp at a B&M store locally over a decade ago and loved the sound. It left me wanting to own one some day. Sure enough I ended up buying my Signature Mk IIa SE several years ago and never looked back. Yes the Master is a ...
Auralic Aries
George, I don’t quite understand how pricing of components contributes to lowering of the noice floor. Oops sp. Now imagine if you owned a DAC where the price is a fraction of what you paid and has a measured S/N ratio of 140dB in each channel. Oh...
Holo Audio May DAC
I don’t think USB cables should be making a difference given the May’s implementation unless they are simply out of spec. I use a Supra USB cable without issue. And again, I have not noticed a difference between 3 low-powered (and LPS powered) end...
Auralic Aries
George, I think what you’re referring to is the quality and number of linear power supplies in the component and the impact on the quality of the signal output (noise on the signal). The N’s have 3 while the Auralic Aries G2 has 2. As you go up th...
Auralic Aries
I’ve been using the Aries G2.1 for about a year, installed a Samsung EVO SSD and haven’t experienced any “noise” when connected to a Yggy or May KTE via USB. Both streamer and DAC are powered by a Shunyata Everest. Noise with a Holo Audio May KTE ...
What are the top 3 USB cables being used today in reference systems?
I’m another Shunyata Sigma user. I had the Curious yellow and WireWorld Silver Starlight prior to that. The Sigma is more natural, balanced and detailed in my system. Hate to admit it, but I’ll order the Omega USB soon.
Holo Audio May DAC Version
I apologize for bumping this thread up, but I found this and thought that I'd share.  Please look at Quadman's posts in the link.https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/58090-holo-audio-may-dac/page/32/#commentsFYI, scintilla has a L2 and Toni-Ma...

Congrats on the May KTE achipo.b345t, I’m using WireWorld Platinum Eclipse 7 XLR’s to my VAC pre.  I haven’t tried single ended.
