Integrating speakers into contemporary decor - can WAF ever be overcome?
@bondmanp   Ultimate solution is mancave, and that will be project numero uno.  Ultimately that will double as HT room and serious listening room.  There's plenty of space but basement will require finishing - actually advantageous cause I can fid...
Integrating HT and 2-channel systems
@kota1  Thanks, I did think of that but hoped to find a more elegant solution.  But in the meantime I realized that I already had a more elegant answer staring me in the face!  I recently got the Schiit Loki Max equalizer.  Turns out that it alrea...
Integrating HT and 2-channel systems
Sorry, your lack of punctuation and typos makes your response quite unclear.  Are you suggesting setting SPL every time I go from 2-chan to HT?  And what's wrong with using both inputs on 332 to AVOID having to set SPL all the time?
Upgrade to a better server. Ideas?
I run one of these.  Mine is 96Gb EEC RAM and 10Tb RAID 10 array but configure it however you want.  Bomber construction and everything is redundant.  Install whatever OS you want.  I use Windows 10, no problem.  It will run concurrent 4k video st...
Why so few devices with BNC's??
IMO there's no sense in even talking about digital coax using RCA's.  It's simply a flawed implementation.  People can argue about whether it's significant or not, but it's flawed regardless.  With proper BNC's it's no longer an issue.  Then the s...
Why so few devices with BNC's??
@russ69  Uh....  yes, we know that.  A few bucks (maybe) vs a few cents.  And yet the Anthem STR preamp (>$4000), NAD M33 (~$6000) and McIntosh C49 ($5500) and have RCA's.  This is "premium" gear using a demonstrably inferior implementation of ...
Digital source & management dilema
OK, thanks for responses, but let's try again.  Here are my "must-haves" and "nice-to-haves" (see below).  A streamer-only with volume control doesn't do it.  The Lumin has that.  Nor do streamer-only boxes typically have digital inputs for extern...
New streamer? N150 vs U2
I’ve got both Node 2i and Lumin U1 Mini. These are (or were) both feeding a Sonic Frontiers SFD-2 MK3. Despite its age this is a truly a super-DAC even now, extremely hard to improve on. The very few who have heard will agree (I say this to try an...
Radio Paradise becoming repetitive?
Yes, exactly!!  Still, Despite my whining, I'll certainly continue listening to RP.  It's exciting that they have changes in store for us.  Will try some other stuff.  As much as I dislike Amazon, I've enjoyed their Neon Chill station (kind of Nu-...
Qobuz dropping rights to my favorites. A pox on their house.
@mlsstl   Sorry, brain fart.  I'm absolutely NOT getting rid of what's on the server.  To the contrary, it will only grow.  It's a beast: an enterprise-grade unit running a 10Tb RAID 10 array with auto backup.  Next step is ripping CD's to it befo...
Qobuz dropping rights to my favorites. A pox on their house.
@facten  "I guess I’ll get busy ripping CDs before they disintegrate. I’ve noticed that it’s already started." Really, disintegrating in what way? Have CDs since the outset and not a one is "disintegrating," and all play fine. Then count yourse...
Qobuz dropping rights to my favorites. A pox on their house.
@mspot  Thanks for unformatting the original post. Anyway, I'm all for artists not getting screwed.  I'd pay more for service that seemed more sustainable.  I'd also pay more for a service that devised a means for being more stable.  But what wi...
Qobuz dropping rights to my favorites. A pox on their house.
I'll try again shortly.....
Roon confusion
The Roon core does more than UI and music management. It also does 100% of the DSP, including upsampling, conversion (PCM to DSD, and the other way), EQ and MQA decoding (at least partial). The benefit of this approach is that every single endp...
Optimum config for Lumin u1 MIni
For @sns: Interesting comment.  Can you elaborate?  Are you saying that it's obsolete because jitter has become a thing of the past?  Or that the D2D's jitter reduction implementation itself is obsolete? If the latter, does it matter as long as...
