Balanaced Power Tech v. PS Audio
One poster mentioned only knowing BPT, and wondering whether Equitech might be a step up. I've often wondered the same thing. Is a balanced power transformer a balanced power transformer, or is there a difference as you move "upscale?"
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase
Funny thread, caught my eye right off, with my recent history. I've been on a spending binge bringing my old Pro Logic mid-fi system into a high-end 21st century version, all spawned (as is often the case) by a complete refinish of the family room...
Surge Protection and Power Regeneration Qs
Why not a simple whole house surge protector -- divide to conqueor, and eliminate that part of the gear-requirements. After that, you could get something for all of your source and display gear, with no compromises due to budget, and then when fun...
Power conditioner plugged into computer battery
Thought I'd breath life into this old thread I came across running a search. I'm researching UPS' as well -- I'm buying a BPT-style balanced power device for my source components and display (the amps and sub will just go into the wall's dedicated...
Does a good sounding surge protector exist?
How did the Equitech gear stack up in your comparisons?
Diffs. between $1400 ACI Maestro C & $1999 XL?
Thanks!
Outboard processor or receiver as processor only?
Thanks for your replies. In response to both, essentially, would an HDMI switcher degrade the video signal? If I did take that approach (or even the shotgun-to-the-display approach), is there a running short list that most would agree on in used p...
Best pre-owned subs below $1k?
An added question, given the above -- would a pair suit better (a couple of Sunfire Jrs or something)?
Best DVD player for the money?
Charles,The germ of thinking about upgrading my consumer-grade Sony DVD player comes from my recent purchase of an HD 30" wide-screen TV with HDMI inputs, etc. My Sony DVD player doesn't have progressive scan, for starters (though it does have an ...
Best DVD player for the money?
As I have a serviceable DVD player now (just a mass-fi Sony), I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off waiting for HD functionality to come out in force?
Best DVD player for the money?
I didn't because I really was just looking for a general over-view/education of what to expect from a DVD player -- what features and capabilities separate a high-end interpretation of a player from a mass consumer-grade piece, and whether those d...
In wall speakers?
I'm reviving this thread with a related question. My front three speakers will be traditional speakers -- how much would I be compromising if I used in-walls (in-ceilings?) speakers for my rears (or sides in a 7.1)? To wit, my front three speakers...
Good choices in a used A/V pre-amp?
With regards to the Lexicon, can someone give me a primer on the "versions?" Thanks.
Good choices in a used A/V pre-amp?
Good stuff. Gives me a short list to work with. The 7.1 vs 5.1 argument is worth further consideration, too. How picky do I need to be for sub-woofers for a relatively small room (~11' x 20' with the listening position forced to be in the long par...
Best Male Singers of the 20th Century
Don't know how I wandered into a "best" thread, ah me. As the wide range of opinions flood in, it's obvious there are many criterion to go by. I never would have thought of Jim Reeves, but he definately had a sonorous voice, further underscoring j...
