My last Integrated Amp: $5-10,000?
"This will be my last amplifier for quite a while"   So, it may NOT be your Last amplifier.  We all have said this will be the last one.  Years later another.  Unless, heaven forbid, you have a year to live.  Maybe.  I myself have said "I'm done...
Why are people paying these stupid tube prices?
You "just ordered a set of 4 KT150 power tubes for $139.00 each..."  !!!! I think you can answer your question very well yourself. I asked myself the same question 20+ years ago.  My answer, "you're out of your mind.  It's not going to get bette...
How important is spending time with your gear?
"with no audible downsides"  I like the thought of this hidden or invisible system.  Including the speakers.  Yet still have every aspect of great audio, sure. My reality is very much the opposite.  So, my system must sound good when On and look...
Spendor D9.2 Run In
I have not purchased any "new" equipment in decades.  Back then my speaker break-in was done out of the box, connected to an old receiver in a closet.  Speakers place face to face with one speaker hooked in reverse polarity.  Receiver set to an FM...
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp?
The absolute cheapest way I know to solve lacking bass and too much highs is to attenuate the highs.   Solder the capacitor onto an rca and plug it into the Tape Out jack.  Usually, the tape out is connected before the volume control.  Right in th...
Best audiophile earwax removal system?
Finally, a reasonable use of real Snake Oil. Isn't there a product that advertises "scrubbing bubbles"?  I can't remember if it was for the ears.
"World's Best Cables" vs Audioquest interconnects
You do not have to "suffer listening" during the break-in period.  Since the cables are connected ahead of the power amp, the amplifier does not have to be turned on.  You will have to suffer changing or restarting the records.  If you have a tune...
most beautiful (looking) speakers
There is no, yes - no answer to "most beautiful (looking) speakers". The most beautiful speakers I have seen don't look like speakers.  Bozaks and JBL Paragon come to mind.  They were Furniture.
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
No.  I know of all the problems of my system.  If it had bothered me too much, I did something to cure it.  Now just enjoy the music.  Lucky me also, to live somewhere that does not have any stereo boutiques to entice me with better.  Reading wor...
What stereo equipment do respected musicians listen to?
I can't keep my finger shut on Mr. Douglas's "How stars listen to music:" article. 3 of the 13 acknowledges the speakers.  4th clearly shows both of them.  But not mentioned.  "Frederick Douglass is the senior home entertainment expert and focus...
What stereo equipment do respected musicians listen to?
"They probably listen much more to the notes than the sound of the instruments." Speaking for myself, I am very aware of every Note and Sound that is coming from Me.  As well as the notes and sounds coming from others in the band or orchestra.
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
I viewed a video of someone wanting "dedicated" circuits installed into his listening room as you are.  I felt a sense that the electrician that was doing the actual work understood the Audiophile's direction and wants.  Find that such electrician.
Great speaker sounds terrible in my room?
I forgot to add.  Experiment.  Just put something reflective behind each speaker.
Great speaker sounds terrible in my room?
Let's see if I picture this correctly. Studio apartment.  Cannot place them closer to the front wall.  Maybe could place them 2-3 feet closer to the front wall.  Would like to keep aesthetically pleasing and utilitarian...   I picture the "front...
How many systems do you have?
Two.  1 main listening.  1 Background music and NPR noise.
