Best way to A / B test amps? Use a switch?
What about differences between recordings? Do you now require duplicate identical turntables just to decide which LP is better?Absolutely.  Switching is just a distraction and works against obtaining whole picture.  In order to get whole picture y...
Best way to A / B test amps? Use a switch?
@david_ten Yes, but comparing particular element, like bass or treble extension can result in choosing wrong gear.  In early seventies, before Transient Intermodulation Distortion surfaced, you could get a lot of amps with wonderful bass, treble e...
Has all decency left the entire planet?
Yes, administrator should remove your post.  There is no hate on our forum.

Constant switching will drive you crazy.  It is far better, IMHO, to listen to each piece of gear for couple of days to get feel what you like more.
MQA and classical music
Benchmark Media doesn't support MQA.  They even have application note:https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/163302855-is-mqa-doa
GAIN ON PREAMP VS GAIN ON POWER AMP
Some amps, like Channel Island D200 are sold in two gain versions. As they explain in D200 manual:"Gain: 32db (for use with VPC, PLC or other passive preamplifiers) or 26db (for use with active preamplifiers)"I would stay with lower gain if your ...
Best HD File Format?
ALAC (that I use) is also compressed.  Format makes difference only if your method of delivery affects timing of the DAC, for instance S/Pdif.  When you use WiFi, Ethernet or async USB format doesn't matter since music is delivered as data.  In fa...
Upgrade path from Windows laptop music server
You just transfer data using async USB.  Computer shouldn't make any difference, except it might inject more or less of electrical noise.  Faster computer might be even worse.  Amount of memory doesn't make any difference.  Another method of deliv...
Basic question or not
No, it won't be degraded, but rather uplifting since it comes from satellite.  Accordingly cable delivered music should be down to earth and well grounded.Happy New Year.
Recommendations for a good audiophile digital coax (BNC-BNC) 50 ohm cable?
Rajah, Short cables (<1ft) don't have to be impedance matched for average CDP to DAC connection, but your clock provides, according to description, "a very high slew rate", making it necessary to match impedance.  Also, this cable normally shou...
Why go out???
A while ago I went to movie theatre.  It was a large complex that has 30 screens in one location.  When movie started sound was so soft, that we could barely hear anything.  People started screaming to no avail.  Finally group of us went to find m...
CD sound quality: original pressings vs regular remaster vs MFSL, etc
Some of the early CDs sounded sharp/bright because of unstable/jittery A/D clock during digitizing process. This jitter cannot be reduced, like playback jitter, and the only option is to digitize again (if original analog tapes still exist).

Preferred Digital Music File Backup?
Data backup on Cloud can get damaged many ways.  It can be deleted/overwritten by user's mistake or malicious attack on his or Cloud computer (or major Cloud hardware/software failure).  To me internet storage is only acceptable as a second backup...
time-aligned speakers: stepped fronts vs. sloping fronts
My speaker's have slopped front with speakers pointing a little higher than listening position.  I've read in one of the reviews that it was done to avoid "closed" sound - so called "cupped hands" effect.
