Help: Managing Apple Music Files Loki - OK 450GB of uncompressed music. All I'm saying is to compress it on the MAC pointing ITunes output to Laptop's directory. You need to make laptop visible to MAC allowing particular directory to be shared - so that MAC can write to it. If yo...
Help: Managing Apple Music Files Lokie - transfering 600GB to laptop is not the best approach. Connecting USB drive to laptop might not work since formats are different. Use Itunes on the Mac with output pointing to shared directory on the laptop (wireless or Ethernet). That way ...
Help: Managing Apple Music Files Mozartrules - I agree that converting in ITunes might be the simplest but how do we import the files? What about leaving files where they are and just give Itunes on the laptop wireless (or network cable) access to them by sharing backup drive. It...

Help: Managing Apple Music Files Use MAX. It can translate any format to any format - and it is free. It works on Mac only. I believe that you can run it in batch mode since I was able to convert a lot of files from FLAC to ALAC by selecting all of them, right click and "Open wit...
Best $2000-$3000 full range speaker? Klein - I'm surprised that you find Hyperions bright. My 938s are never bright in spite of unforgiving combination of Benchmark DAC1 and Rowland 102 (class D), that was unbearable with Paradigm speakers. Give them more time to play. As for cabinet...
CD vs. Vinyl Al - I agree. Quality of implementation is the key. Nyquist preserves frequency information but it is hard to imagine sinewave at 20kHz recreated with two samples per period. In addition there are personal preferences, convenience and different te...
CD vs. Vinyl Mrtennis - why microphone? With the pricetag of top quality gear it might be cheaper to hire Symphony Orchestra to play at your place.
CD vs. Vinyl Al - what if Master Tape is digital (most common)? 1. Master Tape to CD to DAC to amp2. Master Tape to DAC to LP to ampBoth have one D/A conversion. Perhaps quality of D/A conversion is important since most of LPs now comes from digital Master Tapes?

Have you tried matching a stereo to your hearing? Elizabeth - recording deficiencies are usually more complex than Treble & Bass. Tone controls can do more harm than good.
The CD player is dead....... Timrhu - Thank you. As for PO, he is overly passionate about format choice but I agree 100% with Tvad - it doesn't have to be antagonistic since formats tend to stay for a long time and are also convertible. I will expire before CDs, for sure. |
