The "British Invasion". A question for you old farts out there.
@rtorchia - LOL, you had one of those music teachers as well eh? We had one in middle school that said ALL music fell into three categories: Classical, Opera, and The Big Beat.  He viewed everything outside of Classical and Opera as indistinguisha...
The "British Invasion". A question for you old farts out there.
I've never understood the Beatles craze, personally.  With a few exceptions, they fit my description of bubble gum pop drivel (yes, I know I'm in the minority - as my wife fondly reminds me).  Grateful Dead? Well, now, no good coma would be comple...
Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
It should be obvious that any genre of *well recorded* music will benefit from a good sound system (even if it's great sounding music you don't enjoy).  But as mentioned previously, during the worst of the Loudness Wars, there were many excrementa...
HiFi vs MidFi
And after two pages (and change) we find that as with all audio terms bandied about as though they mean something, "Mid-Fi" and "Hi-Fi" have as many different meanings as there are people reading/commenting on them. IOW, they are useless as they h...
How long do good speakers last?
I have B&W DM1600s from '86 and Matrix 802s S2 from about the same time and they are going strong with no sign of any issues. The 802s were my mains until I bought a store demo set of Wilson Sophia 2s about 12 years ago, so they are 13 yrs old...
Aren't you sorry you missed out on this one? It's already sold out! LOL
What's the best cleaner for getting vomit off of an LP...?
TEKTON IMPACT MONITORS
Well, I have never heard Tektons, nor am I likely to. My Wilson Sophia 2s have fully satisfied me, here in my room, in their stock form, and I haven't looked further in the 12 years since I purchased them.  I think the Tektons are particularly ugl...
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s.
"And boomers missed out on the 80s 90s.  🙄"LOL - sorry to break it to you, but we're still here. Didn't miss them, and don't miss them!
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s.
@jssmith - have to agree that pop music of every decade has/does suck. Pablum doesn't get better over time. I was born in '56 and was in high school before we even had an FM station - and the Rexall Rangers fire bombed it for playing that 'devil m...
WHAT IS THE MOST TOUCHY SONG THAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD?
Not easy - there are so many - but forced to choose, it would be Angel from Montgomery, sung by Bonnie Raitt.  Fabulous.
WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE SONG THAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD?

WILSON AUDIO.....BIG NAME, BIG PRICE........ARE THEY THAT GOOD?
I've listened to most of the W/P incarnations, and have lived with the Sophia 2's for about 10 years now. I love the Sophias. The W/P 8 is a very fine speaker IF you like the Wilson sound. They are more dynamic than the Sophias (although all Wilso...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
@Denezy52 I agree with Captain Beyond, although I think Sufficiently Breathless is a superior album, personally. Also:Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You  Audience - House On the Hill  Illusion - Out of the Mist (original members of Renaissa...
Tweeters are silent on my Wilson audio Sofia 2
On the Sophia 2 the resistors are the "fuses", as well as a means of adjusting the speaker response.  Did you check the resistors that you took out? If they were original, and both were blow, then likely the tweeters were taken out at the same tim...
Who are your three favorite female singers?
Well many of my older favorites have already been mentioned (Annie Haslam - but no Jane Relf?? - Jennifer Warnes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLaughlin, Mary Black, Loreena McKennit, Sandy Denney etc.) but some big ones are missing:Bonnie Raitt - I m...
