is the 1990s "WIDE MODE" setting the 'soundstage' of today, and a gimmick?
I've been using a Caver C9 sonic hologram in my system since I bought it in the late 80s. A few years back I had it rebuilt and modified to a higher standard. I'm sure a lot of people here would  poo poo it but unless you hear it in a system that ...
Can recommend some non-fatigue SMALL bookshelf for near-field listening?
I have the Harbeth p3 40th anniversary that I use with a sub however I have used them without a sub and in a small room and the bass is surprising pretty deep. Great for near field listening
Fancy Fuse for Regenerator?
I have a PP5 that until I replaced the power cord out with an PS audio AC12 cord the sound was horrible. So knowing that fact I replaced the fuse with an SR orange I believe and yes it did make a difference, now a huge difference... no but an impr...
Magnepan LRS- what amp should i consider? (sub $2,000)
I second the Rouge
Better/best fullrange nearfield speakers?
Harbeth P3ESR
Reccomend a good preamp for me.
Rogue RP 5 I believe has a better phone stage then the RP 7 but does not have balanced inputs and you need to go with NOS tubes  IMHO but a great pre.
Power regenerator vs conditioner
I have a PS audio pp5 I purchased used which replaced a relatively cheap panamax. At first I actually liked the panamax better, the pp5 made the sound very bright even through it may have possibly had more detail to it I could not get past the bri...
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
I have 40th anniversary p3s I use with a Rouge st100 and Rouge RP 5 and with the exception of the kt120s both pre and main are using nos Mullard and tectronix tubes. The mullards adds warmth to the 40th anniversary from which I read can be a bit b...
Power Cable Suggestions
DH labs silver sonic from the cable company work well, and for those nay sayers of which I once was unless you try a better cord how do you know? And if you can't tell the difference maybe a Bose wave radio is more suited for listening experience.
~$6K mini-monitor recommendations?
I second the harbeth p3esr I have the 40th anniversary and I use a sub but for near field they have a surprisingly good bass response on them so a sub shouldn't be needed. Plenty of reviews most recently from zero fidelity.
The quiet grid
I noticed the better sound out of my system myself and suspected it had something to do with the grid but with so many other variables involved I wasn't sure. It's just a little disheartening I recently spent several thousands of dollars on a ps a...
Recent upgrade to Cronus Magnum
I hated the sound of my Rouge RP-5 out of the box, it was way more harsh sounding then my vintage ss Luxman preamp. And that's also a little true for the st-100 amp. I now run NOS tubes in both, Mullards and RCA tectonics for the preamp tubes, sti...
Which of these power cords ?
For what its worth I don't have hardly any experience with different manufacturers of pc, interconnects or speaker wire. But it was recommended to me by the cable company to use dh labs with my equipment (Rogue) and have never found the need to ch...
Diving into the world of tubes...help needed!
I second something from Rogue, I owned the RP5 pre and ST100 amp and with nos tubes they sound awesome. But what ever you buy and I was new to tubes also you have to go with nos tubes if you want that old sxhool tube sound imho
You went from Harbeth P3's to Compact 7's, and...
Thanks for the response yogiboy my last set of speakers were Thiel SCS4 which were on the bright side and gave me listening fatigue so these Harbeth seem much more laid back to me. Also both in my amp and preamp I use nos mullards which add some w...
