Audio influencers on YouTube hiding comments from public view
I agree with you, but it’s their channel so they can do what they want. Hopefully, those who engage in that practice have the integrity to disclose it, leaving us the option of skipping their videos.
How competitive are you with your system?
It’s a fascinating pursuit- music is magical and putting together a system to get the best out of the resources I’m able and willing to spend is challenge enough.    I note, however, that for a decidedly uncompetitive group we frequently engage i...
Qobuz vs Airplay
@dokosan i’ve had the SIM Audio 390 in my system in the past and I think it is a really good product, very well built and accomplishes a lot of things. I thought the Mind software was very good and SimAudio does a good job of maintenance. I think ...
What decibel level do you listen at? What is ideal?
Typically around 80db although the sweet spot varies depending on genre
A principle guiding the wise audiophile life
@p05129 +1. Well stated. There are no perfect components, every design incorporates compromises. Better equipment means the ceiling for your system is higher, you have greater potential. A room with poor acoustics will surely prevent even a superb...

Tough break for your buddy. No amount of room treatment was going to tame that tweeter.
What exactly is critical listening? Who does it?
I define critical listening as focusing only on the music-maybe not the precisely correct meaning. Lots of people-my daughters for example-always have music on, but its in the background, while they are doing other things. I bought them both a Mor...
MBL Insolvent
I'm not a MBL fanboy-never owned one of its products, and MBL leadership obviously didn't execute a viable plan. I hope MBL survives-I respect what they do. I've never been really tempted by ARC but I know it makes really good stuff and think the ...

@ghdprentice I heard those at the southwest Audiofest, might’ve been the debut and I thought they sounded really, really good especially for the price

@jasonbourne71 You have a point, these are discretionary products that we can all live without. Of course there are folks who are content to listen to music on a $50 bluetooth speaker who would say people who buy a $200 set of bookshelf speakers a...
MBL Insolvent
@lalitk Thank you. I don't think these products are indispensable, I do think they make a subtle but discernible improvement-a bit more clarity and presence. When I've removed them, its not as good but certainly not night and day. The better power...
MBL Insolvent
there’s a lot of competition in what is a very small slice of the market. I don’t think high end will go away, but I definitely think it will change. Over the next 5 to 10 years. I think we will see a very significant migration to all-in-one solut...
MBL Insolvent
@ghdprentice I agree. Not  muchbroom for error in a low volume business with significant capital costs and  a competitive environment to boost. It seems to me that these are the businesses the innovate and take risks And we need them to succeed. S...

@bruce19 that's a pretty creative solution.

@gano I got your point. This is an interesting guy. As you say, seems to know a lot about cameras. He makes lots of camera videos, a random audio video and, apparently, sells what he calls "luxury hot sauce"- its called Oliveum and is very pricey....
