Flexi-Rack Maintenance Question
Thanks John,That's what that is!!! I tried wiping it off but it was too hardened. I experimented with one shelf using steel wool and that did the trick but I don't know if I should re-oil.I talked to a wood guy and he recommended that I wait a cou...
Flexi-Rack Maintenance Question
Thanks Bob!I still think I just over did it with the oil because I've got 2" thick Northern Hard Maple butcher block that I received unfinished. It's good stuff...see my flexi-rack pic.Someone told me that I might just try mineral spirits because ...
Flexi-Rack Maintenance Question
No, I think I actually over-saturated the wood with the oil. I applied many coats, waiting a full day between each coat and I sanded before and between coats. It was very smooth when I was done but I noticed a few days later that there were a coup...
Flexi-Rack Maintenance Question
Thanks Schipo, I'll give that a try.
Can use a Theta DS Pro Basic III as a DAC?
Okay, I got smart and called Theta. This can be done because the Mini Mac's digital audio output is optical and the needed SPDIF format. All I need is a Mini Toslink to Toslink cable.Yeah!!!
Can use a Theta DS Pro Basic III as a DAC?
The Theta does not have a USB connection, but it does have a Toslink input. The Mac Mini has an audio digital out as a mini jack that may be optical. I'm not sure if they're compatible or if I'd be mixing apples with oranges.
Audio Rack Construction
To be fair to Mapleshade, I spoke to Pierre and this is normal. He suggests using 2" X 2" manila paper squares under the blocks as a shim and twisting each block until the resistance is the same for all.
Audio Rack Construction
Theaudiotweak -I have no experience with the Sistrum.I did find out that my maple platform is not warped, but the Isoblock feet are different heights because they compress differently based on the component's weight distribution. This would then m...
Audio Rack Construction
Thanks John.Okay, so I started listening and I was mesmerized. Not that everyone would have such an experience, but I realized just how poorly I treated the support of my components in the past.Every audio attribute was bettered. It sounded like I...
Audio Rack Construction
MarkeetauxBy all means, I'd like to check them out.
Audio Rack Construction
Markeetaux...you should do that! I didn't stain my shelves because I like the natural maple and I'm considering new speakers. If you look at my pic you'll see that the cabinet to the right is yet another finish! Well, I'm replacing that cabinet as...
Audio Rack Construction
Thanks, I do have one issue but it's not the rack. The rack is rock solid when the shelves are perfectly leveled. You almost don't need a level because as you adjust the nuts, as soon as the next shelf finds level...you can feel the rack lock-in li...
Audio Rack Construction

Rick, have you contacted Jeff at High Water Sound about your problem? He should be able to brainstorm with Tom for a solution.
Just One Shelf...
I checked out the ZVOX site and that stuff is very cool. I didn't get what Rob meant by a one-shelf solution that's all self contained.Anyway, I wouldn't go with the ZVOX if you want a true audio system. However, the ZVOX looks perfect for your sp...
