You sure you don't have a grounding problem?
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
Audphile1-Thanks for the suggestion--my focus has been to go in the more high efficiency route and the Mani 2s aren't in that direction.I have owned Dyns in the past and always have liked them too!KeithR
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
Audphile1- i'm not saying they will. New living circumstances made me sell the Sophias. I'm looking for something smaller and cheaper for awhile.Tvad- I was going to do that, just taking the CFA tomorrow so I haven't really started my search. I'm ...
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
I heard them briefly there as well Tvad....but it was show environment so wasn't paying too much attention and I wasn't in the sweet spot. I know Paul Bolin in the room was raving...on the same music I brought it---Zero 7.Phil @ Sonic Spirits in N...
What tube amp for starting out?
Cary V12 or six pacs would be a good choice.
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
What house sound do the Adagios fall in?Are the Adagios a warm, sultry type more audiophile type sound or are they detailed and dynamic.Cheers,KeithR
Von Schweikert VR-4sr MKII or Wilson Sophia
I have Sophias with 9s....excellent combo in my room.KR
Tube integrated comparison Cary SLI-80, Cayin, EE
VAC Super Avatar is a beautiful and excellent sounding piece for you to audition as well.Manley Stingray is another.
Tubed amps for WP7s
While the 7s are efficient at 90dbs, the impedance isn't the easiest of loads from what I recall in Stereophile. It falls to 2-3ohms in part. Would be tough to recommend a SET here.I think the ML1.1s would work better with 90+ watts.
Is Supratek Chenin a good match for BAT-75SE?
I thought about the Supratek with my 75SE but always figured balanced was the way to go with BAT, of which the Supratek obviously isn't.I loved the 51SE with it, that i do know. It was significantly better than the 31SE.
Bel Canto, Nuforce, Acoustic Reality, Channel Is.
None of the aforementioned amps are "warm and smooth"Nuforces are tremendous amps, but i would agree with others that the sound you are looking for is different. Tubes would be your best move....maybe some Manley Snappers.
Pre/power or Int Amp for Wilson Sophias?
I've had great success with the BAT integrated, as well as BAT separates on my Sophias. Nuforce also works great with them.I did not like Bryston on them. I owned the Concentra II, but didn't have my Sophias then---its a great unit, but definitely...
Vandersteen Quattro review in Stereophile
Tarsando-- i tend to believe there is no perfect speaker, and designers opt to voice how they see accurate reproduction. the problem is they think different of what "accurate" reproduction is. otherwise Thiels would sound like Vandys.i've heard Va...
Vandersteen Quattro review in Stereophile
Did he review a Quattro with the wood cabinet ($10,700 i think)? It sounded excellent at HE2006. Wilsons and Vandersteens are completely different designs and goals, so i would think to be an apples and oranges comparison.
