Wilson Speakers & Reviewers
Well, I'm sitting in front of Wilsons right now, and for about the last 8 years.  Sophia model 2's.  Prior to buying the Sophias, I was always a B&W guy - many pairs, several I still have - and the Sophias replaced 802 S3s in my main listening...
Whats playing on your system today?
uberwaltzI can relate to your DLR experience - I went to see Dream Theater about 3 years ago, in a great venue with exceptional acoustics.  We had just seen Bonnie Raitt there and she was glorious as usual.  We actually walked out of the DT concer...
Whats playing on your system today?
@uberwalz - Definitely, I already listen to, and love, Lacuna Coil - just not this week.  Along with Eyes of Eden, Delain, Apocalyptica, Edenbridge, Tarja, Nightwish, Urn, Octavia Sperati, Theater of Tragedy, Eternal Tears of Sorrow...well you get...

I learned the hard way
@mikexxyz - Exactly so.  Pathological cables connected to pathological amplifiers may well cause sonic (and electronic) problems. Put another way, cables designed to affect the frequency response (i.e. tone controls) and/or amplifiers designed to ...
John Prine
@tubegroover  - yeah, he's always put on a great show, but IMO since his throat cancer, and recovery, the sense of sheer joy he exhibits at being able to still perform just takes the show to a totally new level.  His voice has suffered significant...

@rpeluso - I agree with you there!  As a general rule, I'm not a "country" kind of guy.  Grew up on country but always despised it, especially the 'twangy' kind of singing my parents loved. Shuddddderrrrr!!! In the many intervening decades, I've c...
John Prine
We're seeing him in San Diego on May 19th, and then again here at home in Phoenix in December.  We've seen him many times over the last >30 years, and never miss an opportunity to do so again.  One of the best songwriters of a generation. Just ...
Speaker Break-In - What Physically Changes During Break-In To Enable Better Sound?
Nothing changes *physically*. What changes is your ears and perception. Try the same thing with second hand speakers. You'll swear they too are breaking in. Balderdash.  If the compliance of all mechanical parts "broke in" over several hundred hou...
Where do I start-amp or speakers ?
Speakers, always speakers.  The true heart of the system in my IMO, and absolutely the least "accurate" component in any system (well, some SET's...).  Speakers are all colored to some extent, find what you like there first, then move on.
SYSTEM COMPLETE FINALLY!
I got to that point some years ago after picking up my Sophia 2's.  Now, it's just replacing things that break.  My Meridian 557 amps I loved, died, one by one, and aren't repairable (Meridian tried, but parts are obsolete).  Tried a number replac...
How can Wilson Audio speakers sound that good if they are using OEM drivers?
Well, I am listening to Wilson speakers now - Sophia 2's.  They sound wonderful to me.  There have been really great sounding speakers for decades, using all manner of materials. Materials can make a huge difference by easing the inevitable engine...
