Here is an interesting artist that's new to me, and I wanted to share his music. Nope. I had it right. I find Vegas detestable.
Here is an interesting artist that's new to me, and I wanted to share his music. @rok2id: "Las Vegas is a better destination for sin city, plus it's family friendly."I'd rather spend a year in NO than a day in Vegas. Vive la difference.
What were some of your early Hi-End audio gear/influences? @gillagth "Technology is the driving force and what used to be best is relegated to low."A fair amount of gear that "used to be best" is still excellent stuff. And no way the old "best" is now low end.
Two New Albums Since you guys mentioned RL Burnside, I figured I'd post 2 of my favorite YouTube clips. RL playing "See my Jumper Hanging on the Line" in his back yard in Mississippi. Filmed by Alan Lomax in 1978. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_DOnKJ232M "Po...
Here is an interesting artist that's new to me, and I wanted to share his music. Perhaps many of you have already read "Louis Armstrong's New Orleans" by the Thomas Brothers. I can't recommend it highly enough. It goes deep - back to the rags, bottles and bones guys Louis got to know as a little kid. The reactions I've rece...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @jamesclarke: "unqualifiedly ghastly"I appreciate your restraint. I thought it was worse. Of course, it's approaching 2M YouTube views. Sigh.

Turntable leveling If a little round bubble level doesn't give you perfect leveling, you're living too close to the North Pole.
Looking for a good full range floor stander Sounds like hair-splitting. Planar speakers are OK as long as there's some curvature? How much curvature is needed? The original Quads are - in your opinion - flat or curved?
Looking for a good full range floor stander @audiotroy: <<Every large flat panel speaker will have a terrible image because of defraction>> Balderdash. You just lost any respect I had for you before. One of my best listening experiences over 40+ years was with a friend's pair...
What were some of your early Hi-End audio gear/influences? The DQ-10's were unbelievable at imaging for the time. Soundstage width and depth, coherent image, lovely timbre, sufficient bass.
What were some of your early Hi-End audio gear/influences? In college, a friend's AR-5's and AR turntable, driven by a Tiger .01 amp, which was a kit (can't recall the pre-amp). The quiet background, clean sound and bass extension got me hooked on good gear. My subscription to TAS started with Issue No.... |
