Jazz for aficionados Re: Bob Berg. Finally caught up with all the clips posted over the last week. Lots of listening and reading tonight. I'm astounded by two things: his playing and how I've skated through the jazz world for so many years without knowing him. Whe...
The myth of "best" in audio needs to be addressed by all of us Our cultural media environment encourages dumbed down and simplistic views of every complicated and nuanced issue @photon46 Bingo, thank you.
Definitely lonely to be an audiophile **** It is more of a question to myself if I am ok just listening alone or instead I should "try" to be more social and forget about the obsession ****Anyone can be both social (i.e., have many friends and pursuits apart from enjoying music pla...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @lawmnsuu Which format is it?
The myth of "best" in audio needs to be addressed by all of us @redwoodaudio Relax. At 1.5 years, your impressions are brand new. Of course there's no "best," and it looks like you're already putting that idea to rest. When you see controversies over "the best," just move on. Good luck on your journey!
Definitely lonely to be an audiophile I'm not sure the "vast majority" of audiophiles are lonely. Who can be sure? There's no research, so everything is anecdotal. Some are, some aren't.I've been an "audiophile" for over 45 years and never felt isolated to the point of loneliness; ...
Maggie LRS so ridiculously good Today I'm wondering: I recently mentioned my decades-old thoughts of a Quad ESL/sub system.Does anyone have the breadth of experience to comment on the LRS vs. the original Quad when paired with an appropriate sub? I've never heard either combina...
Jazz for aficionados Just had a thought reading a new thread. I've joked a few times about JFA costing me a lot because I'm buying so much more music.Let me emphasize that I was indeed joking. Forums about gear have cost me way more! I don't even notice the $$ goin...
Jazz for aficionados Frogman, that's another good point. I had my tonearm rewired (one straight Cardas strand "shotgun" to preamp) and bought a new cartridge at the same time. I'll never be sure how each change contributes to the improvements. BTW, still plan to go...
Whats on your turntable tonight? slaw, you made me pull out "You're Driving Me Crazy" - Van Morrison & Joey DeFrancesco (2018).
For all you Vinyl lovers! Great analogy Tony!
Maggie LRS so ridiculously good @russ69 Thanks, it's important you pointed that out to me. Taller Magnepans have never been an option as they would fully obscure two nice front windows in my listening room. Looks like if I ever go planar it will have to be with a sub. (Over t...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @mammothguy54, thanks for suggesting "Carney." I checked out the tracks on YouTube and, while I enjoyed the throwback aspect, it sounds dated and not up to par with "Will 'O the Wisp." Or maybe I'm just old.
Whats on your turntable tonight? The only Leon Russell I've ever had is "Will O' the Wisp." Thanks for introducing me to more.
Jazz for aficionados Ha! Not physically. It was getting stuck on 64th notes (I didn't really count) in the highest octaves. Now "Arietus" is the Freddie I know and love.Re: a discussion we had months ago, note Paul Chambers getting top sideman billing on the Oliver... |
