Time to upgrade AV Receiver
And yet the word organic never appears in my post, nor do I mention not wanting to achieve the sound I want, two misses, so go away non contributing little troll, there’s no place for you here.
Time to upgrade AV Receiver
I much prefer bypassing as much sound processing as possible using “direct” / “straight” modes tbh. I’ll turn the question around, if you’re buying high end gear why would you then put the signal through such artificial circuitry vs buying compone...
Time to upgrade AV Receiver
Sorry I used the wrong terminology, indeed I’m looking for an AV processor. I realised this when soix pointed me to a device that had built in amplifier but the website isn’t letting me edit the title of my original post.   After realizing this I...
Time to upgrade AV Receiver
Thanks guys, I'm still keeping an open mind as Anthem would still be less bright vs the Yamaha I currently have from what I can read. What about Anthem vs Arcam? I'm mainly seeing thumbs up for Anthem in this regard?
Time to upgrade AV Receiver
Hi Soix, thanks for the advice. I see the Anthem products getting lots of glowing reviews, but which would you say has a less bright sound generally between Anthem and say Marantz or Arcam?
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Yeah that ties in to what I found with the Pioneer, after doing the auto setup I found I much preferred the sound in “Direct” mode which bypasses any equalization adjustments. What is however useful maybe is the auto measuring / adjustment for spe...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Circling back to this thread for an update.Firstly I installed the CX-A5000 as the pre-amp / processor and used my existing SC-27 as the amp as an interim until purchasing an amp. I honestly didn’t expect this step to yield much sound improvement ...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
It does come with a remote and power cord, and visually in the add it “looks” in good condition, but I bought a squaretrade protection plan for some additional comfort in case it’s a lemon. In terms of bright sound, interesting point, but at least ...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Ok, in doing a lot of digging around and looking at second hand prices I included Yamaha CX-5100 & 5200 in my searching (based on some other Audiogon threads) and stumbled upon a CX-A5000 for $550 (just over $600 including shipping), after loo...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Ok, I’m back!I was set on getting an Outlaw 976 and Monolith 5X, however I just had an unpleasant experience dealing with Outlaw and so back looking at other processor options including second hand options. Budget $1,000 to $1,500, must have’s are...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Hi Tim,Thats a great shopping tip, I’ve received a refund once from B&H by asking if they would honor the sales price for something I had recently bought, but I’ve never proactively requested this info.Monoprice have a very well defined policy...
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
That’s really good feedback thanks, the Outlaw it is. I think this is going to be a big step up in quality vs my old Pioneer SC-27, can’t wait.Just a question of buy now or wait a month to see if they’re any discounts at thanksgiving.
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Then I could also get a factory refurbished Emotiva XMC-1 for $1,199?
A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
Scratching bi-amping, then the X5 model makes sense to me. With thanksgiving round the corner is it worth waiting for some discount or do these items rarely get discounted?Point taken on the Outlaw useability, other reviews have similar comments, ...
