Used tube preamp $2-3K
I’ve certainly given thought on Audio Research but I get lost with their many models. And the need to have tube replacement done at the factory seems extreme. Assuming this applies to preamps as it does their power amps. Don Sachs pieces seem to...
Used tube preamp $2-3K
Thank you Gents. Aric is a builder I have noted and corresponded with in the past. Good idea. My Audio Mirror uses small Russian signal tubes like a 6n1p or the like. It is not based around the 6922. Model is T61 I believe.
Integrated Amplifiers - Esoteric F-01, Esoteric F-02 or Dan D'Agostino Progression
Wow. So now we’re buying/recommending Hi-Fi gear on the makers political views? I imagine if your favorite US based speaker maker farms his manufacturing to China that’s an automatic “do not buy”? To which I ask - do you carry a smart phone?
Cornwall IV vs. Volti Rival, Razz; Razz v. 1, 2, 3 -- what changed?
Having owned nearly every model in the Klipsch Heritage lineup and today with a pair of LaScala and what has become known as “underground Jubilee” in house I find it hard to accept saying a speaker is horn loaded when the woofer remains a ported d...
40+ watts SET, cost is not a problem
Audio Mirror / 45 watt single ended monoblocks using 2x 6c33 per block. Used can be found for $2 - 3K. Good used value, sound fantastic and great customer service from Vlad.
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
Tekton needs to sell but four pair of $30k speakers to bring in over $100k in revenue vs. 50-60 pair of $1500-2000 speakers. As much a business decision as an all out assault on world class engineering -
Acceptable to ask seller for option to return a component?
Everything said above. I always tell my wife as I negotiate any major purchase-  the worst thing that can happen is they say “no”.
Burn your power cables in PROPERLY with Haglabs Frycorder
I'm confused, or curious, with terms such as  hash, grain, black background etc. Through horns at 103 to 105 db my rig is quiet as a church mouse,  as a graveyard, blacker than an Indigo inkwell. Or so I hear, or don't hear it being this way. ...
Kids, Dogs, and Speakers
Newer Klipsch LaScala or KHorns. KHorns tuck into a corner away from child and dog traffic. And LaScala - if you have a dog or child that is able to budge them from their position I’d be training the kids for NFL linebacker status and dog for seri...
Amp — Leave on or turn off
Hello Hickamore The manual on my FW F3 from Nelson Pass  states - "I do not personally see a reason to run the amplifier all the time, but you can do that if you want to ". "Also, at 200 watts it makes economic sense to shut the amplifier off...
Amp — Leave on or turn off
Class D / on 24/7 Class A / off RVPiano - are you aware the Benchmark can be set for auto shutdown  after 45 minutes of sensing no audio signal? Also the Benchmark handbook  states that due to the SMPS power supply the amp is at its full poten...

Looking for 200 watt Amp to drive Dynaudio Heritage speakers
Benchmark ABH2? Yes, only 100 watts but small footprint, lightweight, cool running, exceptionally clean sounding and ultra quiet. Strap two together at 360 watts for under $5K the pair used.
Best Circa 90's CDP
Continuing with Pioneer, the Elite PD93 or  PD95. Both bigger brothers, much, to the PD65. I own  93. Pop the bonnet to be amazed at the build quality. Separate outboard mounted digital and analog transformers. A masterpiece in its day, still ...
2a3 ?
Nearly pulled the trigger on 45 amps as well but concerned about availability/durability/reliability of tubes that haven't been manufactured in decades. I have little tolerance for equipment that may have questionable reliability.
