Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
That's good news; I will try it in my new amp when it comes in. in the meantime, may I stretch my welcome with another question? (actually, that would make it two...)From reading various threads I gather that you don't want to EQ below 100 (some s...
Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
Thank you to the posters so far. Late last night, I had to try it one last time before going to bed; it was really bothering me. I experimented with the inputs...DUH! (hand slaps head).I needed to put I/O on page 1 (input) to Pink Noise, not one o...
Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
Thanks Drubin. I wish to emphasize that the sound out of the speakers is loud when it says Ambient. This is most weird and certainly not desired behavior. Then, a few seconds later, when it states it is measuring Pink, it seems to me that it is ad...
Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
Hi all, I have been following this thread in anticipation of getting my UltraCurve. Now that I have it though, :( :( :(Why? Here is the message I posted to the Asylum this morning. If an expert here would like to pick this up, either here or via e...
A good amp for Tannoy speakers
Talk to EveAnna Manley; I think she uses Tannoy in her personal system, maybe even this model. Guess which amp?
The quality of sound of an integrated amp?
I am not familiar with your current amplification, but I have owned the JD100 and the Panache (though not at the same time). If your budget allows no more than the price of the Panache, it is my opinion that you could not do much better in the SS ...
Moving up to audiophile cdp
Quad CDP-2 (9 series) is the one to beat in this price range (slightly higher but not by too much). Also hearing good things about the new Rega Apollo but not enough consensus yet.
great integ amp for VA Haydn Grand's??
Depending on room size and how loud you want to go, the Manley Stingray would be a superb amp, just a touch of tube flavor but really quite neutral and wonderful sound. Will need to up the budget just a tad though.
PS audio hca 2 feedback...
Photon46, you reminded me that the HCA-2, against my 4 ohm speakers, succeeded in driving them with ease where nominally more powerful amps had shown weakness. One could do a lot worse for the money, well under $1K used. I can't imagine this amp w...
PS audio hca 2 feedback...
Speed, detail and transparency are all pretty good and arguably superior in its price bracket. Bass is very good, maybe even excellent. Midrange is reasonably neutral, not warm, not dry. Upper end is oh-so-slightly tizzy, can be ameliorated by a t...
Overpriced Tube Amps
This is America (except for those of you who are not in America LOL). Free enterprise + PT Barnum = high prices whenever possible. By and large (yes there are a FEW exceptions) availability of used/old/commodity items drives price. Thus diamonds (...
Tubes for Manley Stingray
Read Dick Olsher's reveiw from several years ago:http://http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0500/stingray.htmI find I pretty much agreed with his description when I recently swapped in the JJs. I also like the stock tubes, just a littl...
shipping speakers
Saki70, those look like good-sized speakers but I think my Usher 8871s are larger yet. As I am getting ready to sell them I am thinking ahead and wondering what is the best way to ship these. I do have the orig boxes of course and even custom crat...
Does one NEED multiple amps?
Seems like a split or close to it so far... would be interesting to get a number of responses. Mechans, definitely agree with you re the philophical point of need. Of course, I was referring to whether one amp can do it all, or does one need (as C...
is it sacrilege?
If the statues are valuable tell her that research has shown that sustained vibrations such as those from a speaker have been known to degrade the internal molecular structure of (insert statue material here) and that one day they might just crumb...
