Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I have three A&R P77 cartridges and one of them is the ‘mg’ (magnesium body) version which offers better dynamics and low level resolution than the standard plastic series.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear chakster , I am quite happy with the work done by Mr Peng though the sound  slightly lacks some air/details in the high frequency area when compared with the sound before. One can contact him by sending him an email:- winfred@163.com  or ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Actually some years ago, I had my Technics P205 mk3 retipped by Mr Lau Peng who is the owner of LP Audio in China. He told me it had taken him nearly a whole day to put back and fixed the tension wire inside the cartridge. At that time, his source...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Lewm,The Acutex 320 is not the only cartridge that has a titanium cantilever. In fact, the ADC MC 1.5 cartridge, produced in 1982, also had a tapered titanium cantilever but a carbon fiber body as well.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi guys,It seems that everybody has been talking about top MM and MC cartridges but no one has even mentioned about strain gauge (semi-conductor) cartridges, which I think are excellent sounding as well.
Anyone try the Jasmine LP2.0SE?
I actually bought those connectors in Hong Kong where they are widely available. It seems strange that I could not find them on Farnell and RS Components web sites.
Impedence and capacitance for a Supex 900 Super
The coil resistance of my Supex 900 Super is 3.5 ohms and the recommended loading is between 20-500 ohms.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
It is interesting to know that the performance of the Sonus Blue Gold, which I also own in NOS form, surpasses the AT 20SS. I think, I will try it either on an AT 1120 or AT 1100 to see how it would fare against some of my other MM cartridges such...
Denon 103R or 304?
I started using Denon cartridges since the seventies, of which include the 110, 103, 103D, 103R, 301, 303 and 304. My favorite cartridges among them are the 103R and 304, though they sound very different to each other. The 304 also sounds differen...
What would be the best "attainable" Denon turntabl
I own a Denon DP80 on a DK-2300 plinth and I can tell it is a fist class turntable indeed.
Ortofon MC 20 MKII
I have no experience with the Grado Reference Sonata 1 and Grado PH-1 phono preamp, so I have no comment. But, in my humble opinion, the Ortofon MC 20mk2 is only an average cartridge in sound, nothing to wave about. My aluminium body Denon 103R si...
Ray Samuels F-117 Nighthawk MC/MM Phono
I purchased the Nighthawk in May and, so far, I have been very happy with its sound quality. I have tried some very low output cartridges, the AT 37E (0.1mV), Denon 304 (0.18 mV) and FR MC201 (0.12mV), with which the Nighthawk provides enough gain...
Anyone try the Jasmine LP2.0SE?
Hi,When I compared the Jasmine with the Nighthawk, the Jasmine had already been modified by me. So it was not in stock form but I can tell you the sound is far from lean at all as I am using silver cables to make it slightly lean according to my p...
Denon 103R or 304?
When both in stock form, the DL304 is a better cartridge but when the 103R is installed in an aluminium body with a heavy arm, then the 103R will become the winner.
Anyone try the Jasmine LP2.0SE?
The Jasmine LP2.0SE is an excellent phono stage provided you change the stock power cord and the DC cable connected between the power supply and the main unit. I have also modded it with Kiwame and Takman resistors with further advance in sound qu...
