Opting for no CDP -- only to regret it? Forgot to add...I don't own any SACDs, HDCDs, etc.
Opting for no CDP -- only to regret it? I've gone to an Apple TV Gen 1. Thought I would miss having a CDP, so I kept my XBox (mainly used as a DVD player) in the system. Haven't used it as a transport yet. It's been about 2 1/2 years.I do understand the itch to hear that new CD ASAP. I ...
Is good customer service about dead? There still are some companies who truly understand great customer service. Unfortunately, there are also those who don't care. Then again, perhaps they're following the trends of most consumers (not us here for the most part) - buy as cheaply as ...
Help newb figure out the best route for new setup I'm not sure either would 'out do' the other; they'd just be different IMO. Preferable is a different matter though. Also keep in mind that the same album can have better or worse production on vinyl vs CD.I've got a $1k DAC and a $1k-ish vinyl se...
Etymotic headphone surprise The Ety ER4S doesn't sound very good with portables. Very dull and lifeless with my iPod and iPhone. Even a Ray Samuels Tomahawk didn't wake them up to their full potential, but it helped a bit. Connected to my Bryston B60, they sound incredible.
Any Bryston B100 owners? Help please James Tanner (VP of Bryston) answered your question over st the Bryston Circle. Not sure if you saw it.
Rega RP3 or Pro-ject Expression III? Glad you're enjoying it. There's nothing like some good and clean vinyl to truly appreciate music.Just realized you said you'll be listening to garage sale vinyl. What are you using to clean your vinyl? If you don't have one, a vacuum machine will ...
Wanting to get into Vinyl - Need help Sibelius,Do you really think the endless upgrade potential and/or urge is limited to vinyl playback? How many people have gone through amp upgrades? Speaker upgrades? CDP/DAC upgrades? It never ends for a lot of people. Not being condescending at a...
Rega P3-24 or VPI Scoutmaster I think the VPI is a better deck. It should be for double the price though. Worth it or not is a personal thing - ears and wallet. I don't think it's worth it because I can't afford the Scoutmaster. If I could comfortably afford one, I'd buy one. ...
digital vs vinyl thoughts Add to that some analog info can in fact be missing - a scratch on the LP for example.I'm not bashning analog at all; please see my previous posts.
Wanting to get into Vinyl - Need help The Rega RP1 is a better deck than the others you've listed IMO. Better table, tonearm, etc. I'm not bashing the others, as I've owned a Debut III and currently own a 1Xpression. The MH 2.2 is probably the only MH deck I'd consider, but I'd take a...
Big 2 channel Amp OR Smaller 6 channel and TRIamp? If you want a 6 channel amp that'll actuall deliver all it's rated power into each channel, it'll cost you. Bryston make theirs with a seperate power transformer for each channel. Some others probably do too, but that's the only one I know of. I h...
Transports and jitter Inexpensive, entry-level DACs like the DAC Magic, V-DAC, etc aren't going to hold up against your CD5 IMO. Your CD5 is an excellent player. I'd look no lower than the Rega DAC (I own one and love it), EE, and so on. I haven't heard the Schiit, but...
Sturdy earbuds under $100 I've been using Etymotic ER6i for about 6 years or so now. They didn't seem overly indestructible when I got them, but I've been on the road with them, worked out in them, and so on without any hiccups. They're discontinued, but I think the current...
$2000-$3000 integrated with DAC ??? Another option may be the Rega Brio R and Rega DAC. Yes, it's 2 seperate components, but they're half width. Put side by side they probably wouldn't take up any more space than a full width integrated.Naim's watts go a long way. The Uniti can driv... |
