Recommendation for Computer/Digital
Thanks Ckorody - also for the advice to have fun! After I posted this I was reading all night about the SB3 and mods. I think that is the way to go for me.Can I ask one more dumb question? What about Apple Lossless? Seems the rest of the world is ...

JBG, you are always looking out for me! I could swear I first heard about nosvalves somewhere here on audiogon (I bookmarked it long ago). I do remember that wherever I found it, was with some good recommendations. I just did a forum search and fo...
Recommendation for Computer/Digital
Can I jump in here please? I am also looking for a $500 ish solution to use a Mac iBook g4 as a music server (no fans on this puppy and I have a few extra 300 GB very quiet firewire drives as well), but I am confused about a few things. First, wha...

Hey JBG, good to see you are still around! I did check connections and microphonic tubes, but no go. The thing is it seems to be getting worse, more frequent yet unpredictable and happens at any odd moment. From that I am thinking it might be time...

Hello, I thought I would wake up this thread with a question (and boy do I sound like a total newby up there in those old posts!). Alas, my 222A is starting crackle and pop somewhat frueqently. My problem is, where do I go/send it to get it checke...

Hi Johnny - I'm sorry I can't answer your questions (or that nobody else has), but I thought I would just say hello. I am really continuing to enjoy my 222A.

Just a FYI, I have run into a variety of audio dealer people who tell me there is no way my old Scott can hold up to ANY new equipment, so I have had a $1200 Jolida 302 tube amp here and a $800ish Rotel integrated ss amp in a AB it just isn't happ...
Review: Music Hall MMF5 Turntable
May I ask a dumb newby question? Is replacing the MMF-5 cables with better quality jacks something a regular person (ie not especially skilled at soldering) should or could do?

Thanks Johnny - I live in Philadelphia, but can ship it out. I'm just worried about the selenium rectifiers being so old. I don't want an overall - just preventative maintenance.
First time Biasing tubes
Marakanetz - I actually understood you the first time, but did not make that clear. Two bias slots - connect red lead of meter to one, black lead to ground. Set bias. Repeat for other slot. Thanks!
First time Biasing tubes
Thanks Marakanetz!!! - I think I get it now! There are two bias slots marked left and right and now that I think about it, the two pots I see may be actually be two bias pots - one for right and one for left. Does that sound right/possible? I was ...

Thanks Ecclectique,My only question now is where is a non-technical neophyte to go to to have his old Scott checked out? Who can I trust to have the same kind of knowledge and care I find here on audiogon? My little 222 A has such a nice sound I a...

Hi JBG!Okay - I am a complete neophyte here to electronics, so I am simply and dumbly parroting what I have been told! :-)I think he only replaced resistors that measured bad and then used some type of higher quality resistors he has a supply of. ...
First time Biasing tubes
Rather than write a new thread, I thought I would just add to this one since I am a complete newby to anything electronic and need to set the bias on a Scott 222-D integrated amp. I will drop any pretense of pride right here - I honestly do not kn...
