Climbing the Preamp ladder
There’s a full review on Stereofile talking about this unit. Sounds like a great source component.
Climbing the Preamp ladder
Sorry I can't help with your specific question and don't mean to start a debate, but have you considered a passive preamp as an option? I'm also seriously considering to upgrade my preamp and been reading up on the pros and cons of passive vs. act...
Help me choosing an Integrated Amp
So, there are folks who actually can compare audio equipment sound quality by just listening to YouTube videos?! I probably missed the humor in that.... or it was meant to be serious. Hard to tell these days.
Direct Digital Amplification
Sounds like a perfect match for my Bluesound Node DAC to make it a complete digital sound path.
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
So what is this "body" that you guys are talking about? I'm no expert but based on my (limited) experience, this lack of "body" is either because of at least one poor quality component in the sound chain or poor impedance mismatch if the component...
Bluesound Node 2
Those of you who own a Node 2, or any other DAC that can stream music wirelessly, have you tried a comparison in the sound quality among these configurations: 1) wireless streaming using a service such as Tidal, 2) stream the same source using har...
Two DACs for one system?
OP's question is a bit ambiguous but neither the Node2 nor a CD "player" require an external DAC. That been said, I guess one could argue that these devices could potentially benefit from adding an (external) DAC between them and the preamp. Even ...
Bluesound Node 2
I had been using mine for streaming Tidal through Wifor several months and had it connected to my preamp but about a month ago I started using it as a preamp/DAC and have go right into my amp. I think it sounds a little better this way. I might ge...
Need feedback on loudspeakers
I’m sorry if I missed some of the details but the SF O3s cost almost twice as much as the PSB T3s. Did you really expect them to compare or come close sonically? Something like a B&W 802D or Revel Studio2 would have been a fairer comparison.
What cables are you using for a hidden in wall clean look? I have B&W 802 D3s coming.
We used bulk #12 gauge stranded copper cable throughout most of the rooms on the first floor while our house was being built. We had to use "code" cables otherwise the house would have not passed the inspection for occupancy permit. I also put spe...
Used Audio Research Preamp Options
To put this with or without preamp question to bed for myself, I locked myself in the room and tried to do an A/B comparison to hear the difference. I’ll say that my system is probably not as good as or in some cases anywhere as good as what a lot...
Bluesound Node 2
As an experiment, I hooked up my Node 2 directly to my amp which is as older McIntosh MC2200 with separate channel gain controls. It sounds great, actually sounds a little more open when compared going through the preamp. Node 2 is literally a pre...
Used Audio Research Preamp Options
For that sort of $, I would expect no less....Fortunately the closest ARC dealer is about 50 miles away from me so I'm somewhat guarded from completely destroying my enjoyment from my current system...
Used Audio Research Preamp Options
I read about the "direct" option when researching some of the older ARC models like LS3. According to ARC, the Direct mode provides the highest level of resolution when using high gain line stage components such as CD players, etc. Not sure if it ...
All I want is The Truth, just gimme some truth...
I read this thread and some of the referenced links with great enthusiasm. Extremely helpful since I had started a thread and basically asking the questions that are mostly addressed by the folks in this thread. I've been running my system without...
