Amp recommendations for Joseph Audio Perspectives2 SS amp with tube pre is the surest way to drive under 90db bookshelves with the proper balance for all musical genres.IMHO.
700.00 speakers new or used Triangle Borea 03 new, easy to drive and non fatiguing, good tone for the $.
Does It Even Matter? My streamer/dac is the only source in my main setup - as others have mentioned, there are HUGE qualitative differences between cheap and expensive digital gear, just like there is with amps, turntables, speakers etc.For an easy, high-quality solut...
Poor value vs snake oil... The distinction the OP referred to between the type of snake oil products that should be seen as fraudulent and snake oil products that are just poor value products is only possible if a manufacturer is the type to examine his motivations. And onl...
~$15K floorstanders: opinions sought Focal Kanta 3 sounds more natural to me than the Sopra 2 and is well within your budget.Build quality and aesthetics and decent warranty combined, though admittedly the Kanta aesthetics are dividing.
Need highly transparent detailed amp---how does Pass XA25 compare to Gamut D100/D200 MKIII OP, seems no one here owns either the Gamut D100 or D200 MKIII, so take with a large dose of salt any opinions about it one way or the other.I auditioned the XA25 extensively in my home before buying my CODA No. 8 - decided the XA25 runs too hot w...
Ok now I am frustrated with streaming Been streaming for 5+ years (still have CDs but don't use much now) and zero issues - but, I have been obsessive/compulsive over my setup top to bottom. I even invested in a custom ethernet switch with internal clock and separate power supply. IMH...
Focal kanta 2 vs Sonus faber olympica 2..which to buy? Seems you like Sonus Faber sound signature in your rig already, staying with the house sound is the safe bet.On the other hand the Kanta with tubes is a potentially better synergy, like peanut butter and jam.IMHO of course and thus not worth much.
Best Speakers for a small Nearfield room, budget at most $10000 (used is also ok) Harbeths for passives or Dutch & Dutch for actives.
Looking for new speakers If it turns out not to be a problem elsewhere in your system or with the files themselves, and you are still interested in replacing your speakers, keep in mind resale value is important unless you are not an upgrader. That was a big reason why I ...
Can anyone recommend a good streamer/DAC? Cambridge CXN V2 is warmish sounding and IMHO would synergize with your existing system. It will hold 75% of its value in the used market if you take care of it when you eventually upgrade your system.
Same watts at 8 and 4 ohms? The NAD C388 will drive your speakers just fine if you don't play your music at rock concert levels. But since you own/like a Levinson amp, which I think are all Class A/B, the NAD's Class D module may not make your speakers sing a tune you like.Sa...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby? 50K in the red and counting, but each time I set aside solitary time to listen, I get goosebumps, especially if the tracks are well recorded. 40% of that was in retrospect unnecessary, but I remain convinced the cash was better spent than some guy...
Recommend speakers for Hegel H190 OP, I had the H160 many moons ago driving Dynaudio Emit 30s, good pairing, went for B&W 702 S2s and that was a better pairing. IMHO if you like metal dome tweeters stick with B&W 702s or try KEF R11s, if you desire a tweeter change get the...
Looking to improve my system My source is a DAC/streamer too, so what I have to say in response to your post is a result of many of the same issues and experiences.- some of the musical genres you like are plagued by poor recordings, go for high rez files when possible- your ... |
