I just realized there is a new one every day. Guess I missed a few but just got another one for today. Awesome.
Wow Windows Vista sounds sooo much better
Thats nice but 99 percent of the people on the planet use windows and a PC. So to make like my post has no value is really unnecessary. And I prefer using windows much more. My other option would be to duel boot with linux if Vista didn't give the...
Geometry in audio.
Can't get anymore pyramid shaped than this: http://www.acoustic-reality.com/tetrasite1.htm
many a question to be answered
Where do you see bit matched playback? The bitmatch as far as I can tell is only for recording. While we are at it just to make sure... are you using the kernel streamer plugin with foobar2000? Just need to make sure you are bypassing the windows ...
Transparency: What speakers have it in spades?
Avalon Speakers I can't believe more people haven't mentioned them.
Thiel 7.2 and the 3.7
I'm excited to read some reviews of the 3.7's. Essepecially after reading the manual and tech sheets on Theils site. Got me anxious to know how all that new tech is going to sound.
RUSH on INHD...
I think some of you are confusing loose drumming with 'heart'. Looser drumming does give it a 'warmer' sound I suppose. Neil Peart is a very technical and extremely tight drummer. He never forgets his beat or fills and stays on them tight. Now tha...
High-res Downloads of Orchestral music available
Those sound great! I played them streight through foobar2000. Very Airy with a lot of depth and imaging. Thanks for the link. Hopefully this is the future of audio. Imagine not being limited by space concerns at all anymore and at even higher clar...
Best object in your listening room.
An original Star Wars Return of the Jedi painting (real painting not a print). Painted by an artist at Lucas Films in 1983. You can see a picture of it if you check my system.
Which components knocked you out on first listen?
Passive preamp! Totally blown away when I first tried a passive pre. It was the reference line preeminence 1b. My jaw dropped. That and when I started making my own thick solid core cables and interconnects.
Are DIY Cables Worth It?
I've found the best cable you can do is use a solid core. Anything with strands just doesn't work nearly as well and adds it's own character or holds it back. I ran down to home depot and bought some 14 gauge solid core wire (romex outdoor wire wi...
Speakers small enough for desktop use
Any of the 'Epos' lines of speakers sound perfect for you. They seem to specialize in really big sound from little speakers. I heard some downtown the other day. Very fairly priced and sound amazing for their size.
Side or back wall more important for speakers?
Depends on the room though. In my room the best sound was with the speakers about 6 inches from the side wall but about 3 feet or more from the front wall. If I moved them back they sound terrible and if I moved them in the room from the sides the...
Acoustical Foam
I've been using carpet pad behind curtains. It's cheap and even more dense. And the more layers you put on the lower the frequences it will catch. I only put it on one wall though for now. Makes a huge improvement though. And with the curtains you...
McCormack DNA-1 compared to Parasound HCA-1500A
I picked up the McCormack Micro drive amp a bit ago. It's the model right below the DNA-1. It's an absolutely amazing amp. I can't believe how huge the soundstage is and how powerful it sounds. 100 percent dissapears (and this one is only 50 watts...
