Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
Bi-amping in a truly high-end system, that has already achieved the level of being highly resolving by virtue of the speakers, amps, and pre-amp is generally a waste of time and money in my experience. However, the one EXCEPTION I have experienced...
DACs - Holo/Kitsune, Bricasti, PS Audio, dCS, etc
@jastralfu  -  Among the "many excellent DACs" you reference above, what are some of your favorites that I may have not considered?
DACs - Holo/Kitsune, Bricasti, PS Audio, dCS, etc
@jastralfu  -  Of course you are correct....take my business elsewhere.  However, there is no disputing that the May KTE is an impressive design and strong performer at its price point.  It would compliment/synergize with the other pieces in my sy...
DACs - Holo/Kitsune, Bricasti, PS Audio, dCS, etc
Oh, and did I say I've talked to Holo owners who explain they have never received email responses to their requests?
Bricasti M3 vs. Holo Audio May vs. PS Audio DS
I just ran across this thread as I'm currently comparing several of the DACs mentioned thus far in the discussion.  Where does customer service fit into the equation.  I am certain that Bricasti, Ayre, Weiss, PS Audio have exemplary customer servi...
For SACD fans only
@jayctoy - yes, I’m aware that a NON-hybrid SACD has only the SACD layer, and hence, it will only play on an SACD player. @Jafant  -  I have not yet purchased an SACD transport.  And I suppose that given the potential connectivity issues related ...
For SACD fans only
I know thread is nearly 3 yrs old and I’m not much of a technical guy. First, playing a Redbook 16 bit CD from virtually ANY high quality transport, through a Holo May KTE DAC is generally going to sound amazing. If that transport is also a SACD t...
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
jimmy2615.....hey, just razzing you in a good hearted way and I get exactly what you're saying.  I'll bet among us guys that are really into this stuff that we might only get it right 50% of the time.  The bottom line is no playback system will du...
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
jimmy2615 - Good review.  I agree with much of your analyses.  EXCEPT, you shoot yourself in the foot at the very end with the phrase suggesting you could "GUESS WHICH DAC CORRECTLY 50% OF THE TIME".  That is NO mean feat my friend
Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1 series?
Last thing, if one really desires to alter the sonic experience, then simply invest in a professional balanced EQ devise (ie, Neve, Chandler, BAE, etc) which would allow for the infinite crafting of sonic variations from minute and subtle to grand...
Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1 series?
audioman58.....generally, different is NOT always better.  More detail is not always better.  It is the synergy between all sonic attributes of a given DAC devise that defines a superior musical result.  The high priced dCS, Esoteric, etc consumer...
Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1 series?
Hmmm....the post was addressing a comparison between the Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1....I guess all you "audiophiles" prefer to blab on about your own gear rather than stick to the point of the post.  That's when I know there's clowns to the left of ...
Want to add vinyl to my system.
@pindac I am not attaching a dollar figure as the basis for ranking any vinyl or digital systems. I’m certain we both know owners of $2k systems that believe they’ve found the holy grail, and the same goes for those with $20-$30k systems. Regardl...
Want to add vinyl to my system.
rsf507 and how much does a "great digital system" cost?  My impression is a $2k CD player/DAC might be great to some, while for others, it will take a $20k investment to actually be great digital that is comparable or better than crackling poppin...
Table,cartridge,phono...where to put most of my money?
Missioncoonery   With all due respect to you, you are comparing your digital sound quality history that your ears have become accustomed to for decades, to the analog quality of a $5k - $6k analog rig.  Quite frankly, given the inherent obstacles...
