Tube Preamp Advice Needed
i do not think you can go wrong with any of these. when you get to this level it seems to be a matter of taste of how we voice our system. well my vote is for the joule. i have not a-b'd the bat or cj (but do a search on audiogon; someone else has...
Experiences, good and bad, with VTL
i have not owned any vtl products. i have listend to them on demos. i love the 25tt's (just not enough jucie). if found the vt85 (think that was the number) ok; probably would be alot better with nos tubes. i will say that i own rogue monos (bette...
Power amplifier for NHT 2.5i speakers?
you might want to try something different that will greatly improve the nhts for little to nothing. try using some 30 gauge magnet wire (only if you have 8 ft or less runs) on your parasound for speaker wire and the jumper. i did this with my hafl...
How can I still hear my tuner when it's off?
can you hear the tuner on any other preamp setting. you might be getting an rf leak from one of your interconnects.espceially if they are long and unsheilded. this has happend to me on long leads to the mono blocks.i have never owned a magnum dyna...
What speakers do you recommend?
what arent the snells doing? i have never heard them but just from your comments....i might look at your front end. a better source would give more detail; body; etc. the difference will be shocking. (you are limiting the granite and snells with t...

Anyone Switch from Electrostatic/Planar to Dynamic
i have never owned a pair of stats. i have however listened to them extensively through an audio club and dealer. (maggies old and new (i like the old 3 pannel ones the best); big sound labs and old quads). the seamless sound is so alluring. they ...
Modified equipment...
i think some tried and true mod companies (stan warren; great northern audio) will not improve the resale but will allow you to sell it without a give away price. i have bought one piece of gear that was modded (by the designer himself as sf). it ...
Closet audiophiles
i agree with ezmeraldall. i have posted some responses generated from my personal experience. only to be lambasted by people who have never tried my advice or the equipment being discussed. (just because its really expensive does not mean it sound...
96K DVD Output
does your pre have a built in dac (like some surround receivers). the dvd might need you to set it to 96k on the digital out. that would be my guess anyway. are you using a digital out to the pre or just analogue out? it sounds as if you are using...
Which CD Player /DAC From The Following...
i say go with a cal tube dac. good and not very expensive. this will add a great deal of flexibility in future upgrades. i think the cal will add some synergy to your current system. (there are a lot of other good dacs out there too!)
