High end vs internet Audiogon thrives because USED HIGH END GEAR HAS GOOD RESALE VALUE and the internet provides a community of customers clamoring to get in the door so they can compete to buy.Audiogon has cut deeply into price-fixing practices. Thank God.
Retail Buying - Reality Check Consider this:I have spent over $10,000 this year on audio equipment.I will spend more than that in the coming year.1. 100% of these purchases came from audiogon.2. 80% of them involved dealers selling demos, closeouts or used equipment.3. I would...

Where do you go to get Double Boxing Services? Vik, Gunbei, Swampwalker,Has anyone used this service to send large speakers over long distances via UPS?
How could High End audio be improved? Twl,Perhaps the next step that really needs to be taken is for very successful websites like Audiogon to stimulate manufacturers to think differently about how they are marketing and delivering their product.

Center image on left side and don't know why I agree with Twl, in first order I would look at electronic problems in one channel of your preamp or source output.(Have you swapped cables all the way back to the source?
Foolish Peter,Perhaps you would be willing to post the details. What wire did he use, where did he run them (cellar, overhead, outdoors...), did you need to install a sub-panel, did you install dedicated neutrals, how did he handle the ground?Judith
Vandersteen high-pass filter with other Subs Maxgain,My Vandersteens are not back yet from the 3asig upgrade. I am curious as well. Thanks for reminding me about tilt.I find the set up disk useful for two things: (1) I am able to quickly assess maximum separation by moving my speakers apart ...
Tube amps you have heard with Quad 989 Sbank, Interesting comment. I heard the spectral amps driving Avalon Opus speakers and they were WAY too sterile and analytical. Sounds like this characterstic holds across other speakers as well.Ivanj, interesting comment on the pass stuff. In re... |
