Where are you at on the curve?... I have been reconsidering recently what it means to be "there". In some respects, the most comfortable listening position for me at a concert is IN the orchestra, not in front of it.In the intimacy of my own home, I want to listen INTO the music e...
Equipment Break-in: Fact or Fiction Never thought much about it until I experienced it for the first time. Uncanny. A bit like cooking. You suddenly know when the soup is exactly the right temperature and all the seasoning blends into something surprisingly tasty.
Confused addict: need help with upgrade I own the B&W Nautilus 805s. I have a very high quality front end interfaced to these speakers. They deliver what you feed them. My system is riveting on Jazz, vocals and instrumentals. For large scale orchestral music I will have to walk some...
Sound Lab M1 vs Magnepan 3.6 Audiokinesis, if you ever come across a good deal on a pair of M-1s (it would have to be a VERY good deal), keep me in mind.
Sound Lab M1 vs Magnepan 3.6 Thanks for the invitation albert. I do travel extensively as part of my job, and would love to listen to these speakers the next time I get down that way.
Sound Lab M1 vs Magnepan 3.6 Exactly the information I was looking for. Thanks very much.
Audio Research CD3 vs Electrocompaniet EMC 1 I own the EMC1 MK2 upgrade. It is musical, without glare, terrific detail and extended bass. A data point you may wish to consider: It is easier to find the EMC1 at a reasonable markdown than the AR CD3, at least when I was shopping.
music , mind , thought and emotion 1. Hearing is the very last sense to go before death. Babies already recognize the sound of their mother's voice by the time they are born. People in comas hear others speaking to them even though they cannot call themselves back to consciousness....
Pre-Amp sound similar to Conrad Johnson I have also been taken in by the CJ sound. Almost bought the LS16...Until I heard the Pass Labs X-1 pre. At its price-point it is every bit as sweet as the corresponding CJ, but is MUCH clearer, more detailed and open, and thrives on balanced inte...
Orchestral brass and fanfare - analysis of system I hear some very strong arguments here suggesting a link of this problem to amplifier performance. I do not know what the performance curves of the Krell look like, so I am not sure what happens at the high end. It is the weak link in my system, w...
Krell and CJ? I have heard Krell and an entire line of CJ preamps together. I think the answer may depend upon your price point.
A Little Hypocrisy? I agree with inscrutable. The $$ value of my CD collection has rapidly grown to exceed the price of my most expensive component, and I am not done yet.
Orchestral brass and fanfare - analysis of system I forgot to mention that I also have a REL stadium III sub-woofer in the system. This is an important omission since it makes a REAL BIG difference in my system's overall sound on orchestral and brass music. Sub-woofer frequencies are an intrinsic...

is electro emc1 balanced? The EMC1 has XLR outputs, but this does not necessarily mean that it is balanced. Many units with XLR outputs are not true balanced designs. |
