Does "perfect alignment of cart" eliminate 100% ? If you are using a pivoting arm, at best you might be close to "perfectly aligned" at only two points on the record. I would continue setting up the cartridge.
Puccini+Uclock vs APL NWO 4.0 SE vs PD MPS-5 Hi Rafael,Thanks for the kind words. While I have always been a lover of tubes, I would say that one of the worst places to have them is in a DAC. A properly done solid state analog output stage can sound much better than a tube DAC. There is too ...

Review: Durand Tonearms Talea Tonearm I look forwards to it!
Any better DAC then dCS Scarlatti? Changster: I cannot tell you exactly why, but it is a certainty. I have broken in a number of Playback Designs MPS-5s and it is very consistent. In my experience somewhere between 400 and 500 hours gets you 98% there.
Review: Durand Tonearms Talea Tonearm Nice review. I have heard wonderful things about this arm and have monitored Joel's progression through his development of the Talea.I look forward to hearing it at some point.

Ortofon MC A90 Cartridge VTF Raul: Obviously there are too many arms as well as arm lengths for each cartridge manufacturer to try. Also, I do not necessarily agree that a manufacturer needs to try different arms with each new cartridge they design. Those who have a great dea...
Ortofon MC A90 Cartridge VTF Sure, I have been a bit busy and meant to post a little sooner. The thought by the Chief Engineer at Ortofon was that it could probably be explained by stylus rake angle. He did note that the VTF will vary slightly between arms, even when itÂ’s the s...
Ortofon MC A90 Cartridge VTF "It will be interesting if Mike keeps his 1.5gm long term on his Garrard, as sometimes what can seem like an improvement in the short term is not as sucessful long term."Downunder: I think he probably will. There were three of us there and it was ...
Ortofon MC A90 Cartridge VTF Lewm: We have tried it on two of the same arms on different turntables and the result was different for both.If I remember correctly it was between 2.0 - 2.5. Not that dramatically out of range in some cases but quite far in others.
the hrx format They really are terrific. I have all of them.
Most improved last 10yrs: Speaker, amp, or pre? Sonicbeauty: Tough thread. I do not think that this question has a correct answer.Mapman: Class D amps might be an innovation, but certainly not a sonic improvement.
Avalon Isis Advice needed Richard: I do think that the room may be too small and you may have lots of problems. I would recommend calling Avalon directly, not your dealer, and letting them know what you intend to do and see if they think the speakers will work in your room... |
