unbeatable Class A integrated
Why specify Class A?If you live in a hot climate they are a pain. The Bakoons are Class A/B and sound better than any Class A I have heard.
120v vs 240v
240 Volts!Thin end of the wedge there.Next thing you know you will want us to give up our military style weapons and left handed fishing reels!
Magico S5 MK1
The S5 Mk 1 is a very fine speaker but as others have commented it benefits from some tube component in the system.I have heard them really open up and sound much better when a Supratek Cabernet preamp was inserted in place of a far more expensive...
Amp and Preamp recommendations for Yamaha NS5000
Only if you are silly enough to turn it up full.Do you drive your car at its maximum speed? That could be dangerous too.The Magtechs are nice sounding power amps .I heard them with a Supratek Preamp and that was a very good combination.Of course th...
What is the best solid state amplifier you have ever heard?
Bakoon.
???Anyone Here UpGrade From Yaqin/Cayin/etc... To Another Tube Amp Considered Hi End???
I suspect the best way of getting really good sound from tube amps without spending too much is with simple low powered single ended pentodes.Which might be only 2 or 3 watts but they can sound superb with high efficiency speakers.A lot of the mor...
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
This is actually developing into really good thread.I suspect a lot of the posters here really do have good sounding systems. And I am not talking in the "hi fi" sounding sense. And that is perhaps what is great about SETs.I know that if I am going ...
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
I have a Supratek Cabernet 300B preamp.I was using that with a pair of Bakoon 5515M 50 watt monoblock amplifiers which were unfortunately not mine and had to be returned to the owner. That was a wonderful sounding combination .
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
I have owned a Pass Labs F5 and a friend owned an Aleph 3.Very decent sounding amps if a bit boring.Nothing like a good SET in sound though .Even with a very good 300B preamp driving them. The Bakoons are in totally different league .
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
There is a review which compares the SIT-3 with a Bakoon. They are both great and dedicated to absolute purity of sound but go about it in slightly different ways. The Bakoon is arguably more SET like in its operation .As I understand it they are bo...
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
The vast majority of SS will not sound like a SET because they are electrically very different.Bakoon amplifiers sound a lot like a SET.A very very good SET.And that is most probably because they operate much more like a SET electrically -no negat...
Speakers that are a great value!
Osborn Audio speakers are top value. They use extremely high quality components ,are easy to drive and sound very good. The maker is just not greedy and sells direct to the public.
Can you live with your current speaker until you die?
Well there is no perfect speaker.I would much prefer not to have to limit myself to just one pair of speakers and instead have say four or five pairs so that when you feel like a change of flavour you just set up a different system.Of course that ...
Damping Factor - Interesting article
"With low-damping-factor tube amps, I hear more of a sense of ease and liveliness and immersion. I’m hearing more stuff going on, it’s like the voices and instruments have more texture. Music is more engaging at lower sound pressure levels, which ...
Damping Factor - Interesting article
Most modern speakers are simply wrong because they have uneven impedance curves and their impedance is too low in the bass region which then means you need amplifiers with low output impedance/high damping factors/negative feedback/high current su...
