My beloved CDP finally bit the dust
The Sparkler looks pretty cool, thanks for the link.I went with a Furutech digital cable reasoning it would get the signal from the transport to the dac cleanly without a 'flavor'.It definitely got rid of the digital glare. After changing some tubes...
Tekton Double Impacts
An excellent write up!Thank you.
Need help overcoming room issues with new Home Theater
There are grays with a hint of lavender you might consider.Another suggestion for your floor is look at the higher end vinyl plank flooring. It's made to be installed where moisture could cause problems.
Recommended solid state amp for user with tinnitus
https://www.audioadvisor.com/mobile/prodinfo.asp?number=NUSTA200This is a cool running, powerful, smooth sounding amp.I have tinnitus also and auditioned this amp for a couple of weeks. It reminded me of a Sunfire amp I used to own,it leaned very sl...
Cambridge Audio CD Player Has Died
Two very nice players are Marantz or Yamaha ( Crutchfield.com.)Then add a dac later. If you stretch your budget a bit a Cambridge transport (Audioadvisor.com)and a Border Patrol dac(LTA.com) is a great combo. And a digital cable of your choosing. No ...
The new magnificent Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL Preamplifier
I think it's excellent as a preamp.Last week I used it as an integrated while waiting for new fuses for my amp. With only one watt it can't be played loudly naturally, but it sounded fantastic. It even did bass very well.I'm curious to see how it wil...
Any other lone audiophiles here?
I only have one audio buddy - my own brother living about an hour away.Still,we only get together a couple of times a year to listen and critique each other's systems.I agree it would be easier to put together a system if there was a shop nearby o...
Cambridge Audio CD Player Has Died
Most times it’s the laser and transport mechanism that gives out first.Your player can’t output a signal if the laser can’t track the disc. It’s hard to decide which way to go,I can relate. You’ve been happy with your current player,so just replace ...
My beloved CDP finally bit the dust
Cerious is one I'm thinking about.I do like their ics.Wireworld gold sounds interesting too.
DIY 'rack' made from dead tree brances ?
It would take a very long time to dry it out.Wood expands and contracts with humidy levels also, and will eventually develop some splits. It will move around and a component is likely to slide off at some point. If you take all of that into considera...
My beloved CDP finally bit the dust
Well the amp has a new fuse and is up and running again. The Parasound is still sounding good, does everything right except it is still missing that 'organic touch/flavor' that the Vincent CDP presented so nicely.I think if I found a decent digital ...
"Loom" cabling vs. 'mix n match' ?
I like to mix and match also.A clean and clear cable between the pre and amp,a slightly sweet cable from dac to pre,and sweet/fast speaker cables.Still experimenting with digital cables.
Upgrading form Pass integrated amplifier to a better one
Good on you for your persistence in putting together a system that does all the right things. It's not always easy.Enjoy:)
Tekton DI monitors
Congrats!I think the Impact Monitors are fantastic also. "My God" is one of my favorite cuts, the entire album is wonderful though.I was fortunate to see Tull live way back when, just an outstanding band.
Sub to complement KEF LS50s: SVS vs. Rythmik
Tim is correct! After reading about Tim's and other member's successful implementations of "the swarm",then doing further research, I added two more subs to the two SVS 1000 subs already in my system and am very pleased.Every frequency benefits whe...
