How come no one talks of sansui? My first big league system was a Sansui G-6000 ,a JVC qla-7 turntable and bose 901 serie4's and an akai tape deck. It was 1974 and I thought I was an audio king.
$9.99 CD Alert at Tower Records Went to the sale and it was very confusing. All 12.99 stuff rang up as 9.99, but some 18.99 stuff like The White Stripes Elephant was 9.99 also. I asked the guy to help me and he gave me their circular that had like 50 or 60 titles and was no help...
Best drink while listening to your rig? Hycomine cough syrup and Dark Side of The Moon. Sorry wine spectators!
Best band of the 80's What about Gang of Four?
Is there a future for Redbook players? Redbook is a term for a normal cd. SACD, DVD Audio, and HDCD are different formats that require dedicated players or chips to play. Redbook cds make up 99.9 % of the product out there.
Is this a male hobby or are there females bitten My vote here is for discretion being the better part of valor. Ever since I told my wife how much my system cost, she's used it as a measuring stick to justify buying whatever she wants. In retrospect I should've downplayed the cost. Anybody else ...
Is there a future for Redbook players? What about hdcd? I don't have an sacd or dvd-a player, but I can tell you that the HDCD stuff I've heard(Keb Mo , Joni Mitchell, Roy Orbison), have sounded great. The upgraded sound from Redbook titles was very evident.
Has anyone heard the new Led Zeppelin Live cd The new CD is entitled "How the West was Won". I thought the sound quality was better on the acoustic stuff than the electric. Overall I thought the sound on this baby was good but not great.
Comments on Lucinda Williams "World Without Tears" I don't own any Lucinda CD's yet, but I caught her with Neil Young on 6/26 at MSG. She was undoubtedly the highlight of the show. Her guitarist ripped the place up and her pain soaked vocals were the real thing. Neil on the other hand burdened the...
Are you going to buy the Rolling Stones SACDs? Drubin. Going off and dying doesn't ensure that the artist won't still issue an album. Seems like Hendrix came out with way more albums post-humously than he did while breathing. (A good thing.) There are indeed artists who in my opinion retain th...
Are you going to buy the Rolling Stones SACDs? Hey Pops. I think you misinterpreted my comment. I said that every Stones album since Some Girls was irrelevant. Catering to the masses is what gave us the current disposable rock era we must suffer through now. (Brittney,Matchbox 20, Pink etc.). ...
Are you going to buy the Rolling Stones SACDs? An endorsement by the masses is hardly a benchmark of quality (see Bush's approval rating). In the case of the Stones not unlike The Grateful Dead there are new generations of fans who didn't grow up seeing these bands at their peak and are thrill...
Are you going to buy the Rolling Stones SACDs? Grace Slick once said and I paraphrase here: "There's nothing more pathetic than a 50 year old playing rock and roll on stage." It seems appropriate in a musical era dominated by disposable pop divas like Brittney, Christina and now Pink that The ...
Revel Studios and? Thanks alot guys and btw the guys at Madrigal also recommended the ML stuff, but they're not exactly objective. The guy at the hifi store in Manhattan also said ML was the best you could buy. He also put the Burmester Rondo 992 CD player in the mix... |
