Lyra Delos A truth teller or what?
I use two MC carts with my Technics 1200G, the Delos which I’ve had for about 3 years, and an AT ART 9. I have MM carts as well, but I haven’t tried them yet with the Technics. No reason for not, but I haven’t yet.The Delos is more revealing, clea...
Speaker cable suggestions
It sounds like you have your search narrowed. If you need other suggestions, what is your gear, your sound preferences, and your budget?
Decware integrated
I've owned two Decware amps in the past.  You will like dealing with Decware.  If I recall, most of the amps allow for two different connection settings depending on ohm load of the speakers.  Steve can usually set up the amp to allow either 4 or ...
speaker cable prices
I separate cable pricing into:Entry level - a step up from stock cables but noticeably betterValue - probably up to limited hundreds of dollars. Bang for the buck.Quality - this is a wide range but where most audiophiles getting serious play. Mayb...
What's your investment threshold?
+1 twoleftears - I fully agree if a cable price would bump you into the next component model up, that may be the better option. In my case I'm at the top of my line for the components I use so cable pricing is a separate decision.  I did pull the t...
What's your investment threshold?
jsm71, You call it an "investment" ???? Perhaps wife is reading :)My wife is fully aware of my audio spending.  She doesn't share my hobby but knows it is important to me.  I've got a keeper.
The ups and downs of tube vs. SS...
@jtweed - If you are looking for a "personal" office system I recommend you research the Linear Tube Audio MZ2.  It is (take your pick) either an integrated amplifier for high efficiency (Klipsch, Tekton, Devore, Decware) speakers, or a superb pre...
What's your investment threshold?
Does $1,500 speaker cables count as compared to your amp, or your speakers, or both? That's compared to the amp. I should have compared against the speakers.  I went back and compared all cables against all other components and I'm actually at abo...
Anyone replace the power cord on 1200G?
Going back to the OP’s opening question, I plan on using the Shunyata Venom as well. It was recommended by my table supplier. I actually have that cable, but it is doing duty in my phono stage currently. I have a new and better cable on order for ...
Best analytical loudspeakers for strings (midrange)?
@gerry, I've had Magnepan and now JansZen hybrid electrostatic loudspeakers.  The JansZens are my retirement speaker.  Clarity and realism (via near zero distortion) are what ESL speakers bring to the table.  I have found Linear Tube Audio (David ...
TECHNICS 100th Anniversary 2018 Premium Turntables. Their best ever.
@atmasphere what mat would recommend for the SL-1200G?  I'm using the stock mat and it sounds pretty good. I tried my Herbies mat that improved my prior acrylic platter table but it didn't sound so good on the 1200G.
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago?
The only components I still have older that 10 years are my late '80s Thiel CS3 speakers and later adding the Thiel center and rear speakers for home theater.  The CS3s were my first audiophile speakers for 2 channel driven by McIntosh separates. ...
Most satisfying system change in 2017?
My upgrades were also extensive over the last half year, bleeding into this year.1.  Replaced Cary tube preamp with Linear Tube Audio MZ2.  I already had the LTA ZOTL40 amp and the two LTA units together really is the way to go if the amp clicks w...
Can anyone recommend a great tube preamp that also has a headphone out?
"Looking to spend 3 grand, at most. Thanks!"LTA MZ2 - $2,160 with every upgrade option.
Can anyone recommend a great tube preamp that also has a headphone out?
I use the Linear Tube Audio MZ2 solely as my preamp today, the best I’ve ever owned.  It not only has a headphone output, it is a premier headphone amp.  Check the many reviews.  Most buy this for their headphones.  I’ll be dipping my toes into he...
