I feel it is time to upgrade my 1977 system....... I have Altec Flamencos and recently asked for some advice on amplifiers that you might find helpful. Coincident Frankensteins and Music Reference were recommended for my speakers as well. Also Atmasphere thought that his class d monoblock amps wor...
Amplifier pairing for Altec Flamencos @alexberger Thanks for the Jeff Day page. I am going to search for a new tube amp based on everyone's input and see what i can come up with. I will try and update the post once the upgrade is made.
Amplifier pairing for Altec Flamencos @fjn04 Thanks for recounting your experiences and impressions and most importantly suggestions on amps to look for. @alexberger Thank you for your very detailed account of your experience and suggestions. This is invaluable information! I still...
Amplifier pairing for Altec Flamencos @atmasphere Thanks for your input. Do you think your new class D mono blocks would be a good fit for the 16 ohm Altecs? Or should I stick with a tube amplifier for this speaker? I think my current tube amp falls within the parameters you outlined...
Something other than Harbeth SHL5 You may want to pay a visit to Soundlux in south Florida if you haven't already. They have the full Audio Note line of speakers. I think they may have a pair of Fleetwood Devilles in the store as well that you could audition. I heard the Josep...
Thiel 3.5 vs Klipsch Forte IV Speaker choice @big_greg sounds like you have already walked down the road ahead of me. I do like the Kefs. I will add the ref 1s to my list to consider. I imagine I would need a better amp as well for the Kefs? However, I did get the tube gear to try out some ...
Thiel 3.5 vs Klipsch Forte IV Speaker choice Thanks @jafant , I will check out the thread. The vandersteens and Spatials were great when I had them in a 500 sf room but unfortunately, my new music room is only 238 sf.
Thiel 3.5 vs Klipsch Forte IV Speaker choice @soix thanks for the Verity suggestion. It does look like best of both worlds. @roxy54 @arafiq thanks for further confirmation of Verity as something I should consider. @carlsbad I originally switched to tubes to try out high efficiency speake...
Using Qobuz with Bluesound 2i @oddiofyl Now that I have been able to sign in properly on my Node, I can clearly hear the benefits of Qobuz. Have waited in vain for years for Spotify to add cd quality. Soundiiz has successfully converted all my playlists to Qobuz which made ...
Using Qobuz with Bluesound 2i @rhljazz -Thanks! I re-signed in and now it works fine and Inow have access to my playlists. I initially signed in to Qobuz when I added it to Bluesound but something must not have gone right the first time. Thanks for the quick fix.
This is good Schiit... Al a point of reference, I have a Bluesound Node 2i that i use with an external Schiit Modi Multibit and noticed an improvement in sound quality. My system is Don Sachs preamp with a upgraded Bob Latino ST 120 tube amp to Spatial M3 Triode Master...
Why no high end battery powered wireless speaker systems? @ebm- ouch! You might be right.
Why no high end battery powered wireless speaker systems? @millercarbon-oh wise one. If the speaker draws 100 watts, a 56volt 10ah rechargeable battery should run the speaker for: 100/56=1.786 amps per hour. So a 10ah battery divided by 1.786= 5.59 hours of max run time. of course I could solve the pr...
Why no high end battery powered wireless speaker systems? Thanks @nonoise for the link. That is the essence of what i am looking for but in a consumer friendly package. It would be great to eliminate all the cables and expense if possible. @erik_squires , I was thinking along the lines of having an int...
